The Evil Overlord
So Knight started texting personal stuff with her, (family) he let that turn into an attraction, his wife picked up on that, forced him to fire her... I was going to say couldn't he have simply asked her to wear less revealing or sexy clothing? But it looks like it was way beyond that by this point... Memphis
Don't see the problem as long as employers can hire on looks they can fire on looks.

Wow...such a display of indifference is so.....missing the point. Hope your boss does't fire you because he thinks you're too attractive representing a threat to his gay marriage. I would be sympathetic if it wasn't culturally acceptable to hire a women because she's good looking and before you tell me its not go to any major restaurants and find me ugly waitresses. That's like saying you got hired because you are good at what you do so you can be fired because you are good at what you do. Makes no sense. The employer was a coward. This is essentially the same reasoning that a woman invites rape by the way she looks and dresses and it's not the rapists fault for not controlling himself. Do we as men not have any control over what we do? Grow the hell up.

As long as you want sexist double standards that discriminate against left gifted women I can be OK with it at least not be a double standard. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 23, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2012 ROFL Bravo! Motivated by feeling and emotion, not gender. Such BS. Lovely central USA. I don't think sexual attraction to someone is a reason to fire them but it wasn't motivated by gender. If she happened to be a man, then he'd still get fired if his appearance was a distraction to the dentist. It's not illegal but it's not fair either. Also, it was the wife that demanded the assistant be fired.

Hardcore Til I Die
Wtf? That STUPID decision was upheld by 7 judges? *head explodes* Edit: I now realise it may not be against the law in Iowa, so technically they were right to uphold it.. I guess it's the law that's ridiculous.
Stealthy_Singh
As long as you want sexist double standards that discriminate against left gifted women I can be OK with it at least not be a double standard. It's not necessarily sexist seeing as plenty of retail environments will hire good looking male staff too at the detriment of less good looking guys. The thing is there is nothing said by the employer that she is not good at her job. So just because she is good looking doesn't mean ugly women were discriminated against when she got the job. The problem is caused by him and no one else. I'm a dentist and the support staff where I work are all generally good looking and have good teeth. Reason being looks (especially the teeth) are a large part of why people go to the dentist. I find some of the nurses very attractive and there is some friendly flirting that goes on, but I know nothing will happen. Because I can control myself. And they can control themselves. Art_X
A dentist acted legally when he fired an assistant that he found attractive simply because he and his wife viewed the woman as a threat to their marriage What that says to me is that he will cheat on his wife, and she has self confidence issues, don't look at fixing things within your marriage, just blame someone else and get rid of them hoping it will all just go away
