Change Boot Order?

Recommended Posts

So I've been attempting to get my computer to recognize the CD drive first in the boot order. For Linux distro testing and Windows recovery CDs. No luck

I've changed the boot order in BIOS (UEFI) to CD drive first. No luck

I then disabled secure boot and enabled Legacy Boot. CD drive first. No luck.

I've since re-enabled secure Boot with CD drive first, still no luck

Any ideas?

And what computer (motherboard) you have might help in figuring out what your doing wrong. Another thing to verify is the CD your testing with is even bootable ;)

The DVDs are bootable as they were used without issue on my previous Dell computer (and they currently work on my old HP DV9000 Laptop).

The motherboard is listed here: http://h20000.www2.h...rodTypeId=12454

AABRZ-AB (Azara)

  • Manufacturer: Pegatron
  • Form factor: nano-AIX: 19 cm (7.5 inch) x 24 cm (9.4 inch)
  • Chipset: AMD A68
  • Memory sockets: 2 x DDR3
  • Processor socket: Not applicable, because the processor is soldered down to the motherboard
  • Expansion Slots: 1 PCI Express half-length mini card slot

Well, I'm at a complete loss. NOTHING seems to work. I guess this will never be a testing machine.

I long for the old days (a couple years ago actually), when dual booting was not some chore and this insanely difficult.

When your in your BIOS, if your in Advanced mode, switch to EZ mode. Press F8 or whatever it tells you for boot. Then just click your CD/DVD.

No such "EZ Mode" entry in in the BIOS.

Hmm... You must have one of those crippled HP UEFI BIOS then. That stinks.

Damn. You seem to be right. I started a thread on the HP Help Forum a few days ago, still no response. Though I haven't called HP Technical support yet.

This really sucks. I may be stuck with a Windows-only machine.
