Dead Space 3 Demo Launching In January, Xbox 360 Owners Get It First

Visceral Games confirmed today that they're going to release a demo for Dead Space 3. The demo will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 in January.

In DS3, Isaac Clarke heads to the icy planet of Tau Volantis. The world has become overrun with Necromorphs, the savage creatures he's encountered twice before. This time, though, he has a partner in the fight: Sergeant John Carver.

Two-player, drop-in/drop-out co-op is the big new feature of the game. The campaign can be played entirely in single-player if you choose. However, by playing in co-op mode, players will uncover new story details and side missions.

The demo will let you try out this co-op for yourself. It also introduces the weapon crafting system, which enables players to create their own arsenal with spare parts found throughout the game. The Xbox 360 version of the demo also features the Kinect voice support. For example, saying "give partner ammo" will make your character give ammunition to your co-op buddy.

The Dead Space 3 demo will be publicly available through Xbox Live and PSN on January 22nd. However, Xbox 360 gamers can get access on January 15th by signing up on the Dead Space 3 website. You'll need an Origin/EA account to sign up, though. It appears to be exclusively to the United States, Canada and Europe.

DS3 will launch on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in February. Today's announcement made no mention of PC demo.
