free space, HDD Space remaining

Recommended Posts

My OS HDD is an ssd drive, only 80 gb remaining.

How much remaining do I need ?

I am running win7.

The 2nd internal hdd has 200 gb remaining, should i move my game folder off the first HDD ?

I guess it all depends on how much more stuff you plan on installing to the main drive.

I remember a time when I'd start getting panicky when I was down to around 10 megs of space left. Now I panic when I'm down to 10 gigs.

But as of now, I have around 80 gigs free on main drive (SSD) and 2.60 TB free on secondary drive.

Depends where your pagefile is (not sure how that works with an SSD) apart from that, temp folders will need some space, I'd say 10GB would be a safe amount to aim for, although I've seen much much less on C:\

10% of available hard drive space should be good.

You want some room for defragging and such.

If you start eating into the last 10%, you should be planning to offload files, to another hard drive, flash drives, or DVD as back-up.

And I wouldn't count on my personal files being safe on a SSD drive -- back those up immediately.
