Help with installing SDK on Windows 8

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm wanting to install SDK on my PC so I can use Screencast to see and use my Android phone. PC/Mobile specs in sig. I've tried installing SDK but can't seem to get Screencast to work nor get SDK to launch. I've had SDK on a netbook before so I know what it is suppose to look like. I don't seem to be able to do this on Win8.

Any help would be great. I've seen the video on online and can't hardly see it and the Indian accent doesn't help. He goes through it like people can actually see what he is doing and instructs like he really doesn't care about what he is doing. So if anyone could help it'd be great.

You would probably need to install ADT (Android Development Toolkit). Then, start your phone in debugging mode in Eclipse and that should allow you to take screenshots and do a lot of other stuff with your phone. I am not too sure about doing screencasts but I would suggest looking around.

Yea I'm looking to control my Android via PC. Mostly send texts using PC. Thanks for your suggestion.

you can send text messages and things from your phone using airdroid which is a free app on the store, it allows you to control certain things on your phone from a web browser so long as you are on the same network, the next version of the software will allow you to do this without having to be on the same network.

Thanks. I saw that option. I was hoping to do it directly from PC. But I may have to use that as I don't see how to use SDK for this unlike what's on the internet.
