Welcome to the world of leeching :p

As you stated it's slowed down after 75%, we can assume it's not a port problem. From the information you've provided, just sounds like less people have the torrent above 75%. Depending on how popular the torrent is, you can load more trackers from different sites if you can find the same torrent being seeded.

I'm not sure how much details we're allowed to discuss on Neowin based on this topic. :/

My advice, find more trackers / seeders from other sites, or be patient :s

Edit: yeah, as above too, your ISP maybe throttling you depending on your ISP's policy.

Torrents always max out my connection as a lot of % of seeds will be a "seedbox" a VPS server just for torrenting. Have 1 myself on a 2gbit connection. Had 3 at one point.

However, between 5PM and 1AM my ISP throttles my p2p speed to almost nothing.

Its very common for ISPs to do this as P2P hogs the network from other users.

However, check your ports are forwarded - www.portforward.com and set encryption to forced in uTorrent to try hide the connection from ISP, sometimes that helps with speeds. I doubt these are an issue though as its only just slowed, but worth checking.

I assume its your ISP.

What I do is torrent over a VPN during peak times, its not as fast as my max connection but its sure faster than the 10KB/s I get when throttled.

Who provides your Internet service in the UK? :s

I thought VM were the worst up to 9PM, but up to 1AM must really suck. - At least for me it would :p

Your ISP is probably throtling your torrent speed.

I have no issue here, I always max out my connection in big downloads (between 3 and 4 Mb/s download)

Try to encrypt your connection. It's in the options somewhere.

You have to set it to : Force encryption.

Thanks but no effect oh well no worries.

Thanks ill have a look around. Sad re Neowin but I am downloading a legal file mentioned on the site blame the use of the tool not the tool. Hell I won?t not pay for music and most people think I?m crazy! I am not rich I just do without if needed. Darn ISP.

When my download speed is too low for one particular torrent, I always up my upload speed from 100kb/s to 200 kb/s.

It takes a few minutes to notice the speed bump, give it time. As for encryption, always leave it on anyway.

You can fool the ISP traffic shaping by hitting "Random Port" and changing your port number in uTorrent

Thanks both of you ill try them!

Oh sylar is such a noob that's two.037 not 2000........

thats exactly it, well spotted CrashGordon

What happened was you were downloading from other leechers who only have part of the file(s). Then when you hit 75% you only had the 2 full seeds to leech from, they must have slow uploads

what happened was my dad moved house and got a broadband contract before asking me about it. Then I moved in with him

turns out he took Sky, but in his area, only BT have hardware in the exchange, therefore Sky are reselling BT. Which means we can only get sky connect, which is throttled by BT not sky. Its a ploy to get us to go to BT. Which we will be doing when the contract is up next month

yeah it does suck, but my gran lives 3 doors down and I have a long range wifi receiver, so during those times I use her internet (which is BT :))

Why would a bittorrent client or search show a .037 seeder? That wouldn't make them a seeder, that would make them a leecher in that they only have part of the file, not the whole thing...

I wondered that too, I wonder if that is a seed/leech ratio rather than a seeder count. But didnt want to argue the point xD

If it is seed count then its just counting how much % of the whole file can be reached. So over %200 (just over 2 full seeds)

However I use utorrent and the only thing that looks close to that type of number is a seed/eech ratio

In the uTorrent settings (BitTorrent category) try switching encryption to forced and turning 'accept legacy' off. That ensures all your data will be encrypted and it also fools most ISP's. Mine at least.

You're correct, in uTorrent it displays seeds as a ratio. I believe you can view total seeds / total leeches, but my memory fails me, and I'm at work, so I cannot check.

Downloads are a two-way street.

Speed depends on not only your ISP connection, but also the other guy's.

If they are also downloading, or have bit torrent set to low bandwith, or they are sharing multiple files at once, --- all these things will slow down the speed that you are receiving the download.
