Congrads! What was the issue? You should have posted it here before you got all worked up. :)

I don't think I've ever had any errors installing nVidia drivers all the way back to the late 90's... what was your issue?

the drivers for my card would not go past 1024x768 O_O 12.10 did some funky things with the linux headers and unity would not load so i have to google my butt oof and found a really good ( NEW guide ) on how to fix it. now before i would try to use a guide and i would get xserver errors about being ran blah blah .. so i got Pi**ED and ran back to windows . finally got fed up with windows and returned determined to make it work ..

simple put i did a lot of copy and pasting while a guy did the hard work lol :p

Share the guide, it would be nice to see it. Also another way of "archiving" it on the internet

Had a headache with that thing, in my case the unity/desktop wouldn't load with the Nvidia driver. It had something to do with an Ubuntu bug with headers iirc..

Yea I had a bunch of trouble making 12.10 work with my nVIDIA card as well. Still doesn't recognize that I'm using the nvidia driver...but it works, so I don't care. :p

May I recommend you try Kubuntu in the future? It's so much more polished (and prettier IMO) than unity. I've been meaning to post a setup guide/how to, but I've just been busy lately. Maybe I should get around to that...

You can install KDE for Ubuntu too iirc via Terminal ?
