just bought a lumia 920

just won a 'as new' yellow lumia 920 on ebay, paid ?420 inc. next day delivery so pretty happy

however ive got a couple of jobs to do when i get it. first and foremost is to get it network unlocked from the EE umbrella to the 3 network, and second is to spend (waste) some more money on a wireless charging dock

so if anybody out there has experience unlocking their 920 or an opinion on the best wireless charger (the plate or the pillow) please let me know

as far as I know there's no way to unlock the 920 yet outside of getting the carrier to do it

I've seen a couple of posts and a YouTube video showing people using phone unlocking websites to network unlock so hopefully I can too.

I'll report back when the phone and its imei number arrive

congrats on the lumia. its an awesome phone. that thing is built like a tank. people are going to get jealous.

about the unlock, i've unlocked a few by code from a cell unlocking site for rogers in canada and at&t in the U.S. I'm not sure about your carrier and where you can get a code from, but its certainly possible because i've done them.

I have returned a black (dead pixels) and a white (dust) and got my red one today. Brilliant phone, I love it.

I'm not sure if a firmware flash unlocks it. On of the files of the flash is a simlock file which can set it to 0. Mine isn't locked, so I can't confirm.

to fill in for anyone who'd like to know i used fonefunshop to unlock my 920, cost ?35 and took about 3 days to get a code to me.

also has anyone else noticed lag in the xbox music app when navigating artists or changing tracks? the music plays straight away but the animation seems to take a second or two to start.

ps how bad is the desktop windows phone program? zune was a bit bulky but nowhere as bad as this!

There's always using WMP as well till the new WP8 apps get updated a few more times to fill the missing pieces.
