Hey, I need a new computer desk. I bought this one from IKEA several years ago, and it is very nice, big, spacious. But the problem is, this isn't solid wood (go figure), it's just pressed wood with hollow innards. A few months ago, the top of the desk cracked under the weight of my dual computer stand that is clamped to the desk. ATM, I have a 2x4 between it, trying to spread out the weight. But I am even seeing that sink down now.

So I need a new desk that won't break. And that has a strong top. The dimensions I need are roughly 6' by 2'. So nothing much larger than that. I have a little room to move, but not much.

This is an old pic of my desk, different things on top and bottom, but same desk. (A lot cleaner, too...)

I recently purchased an Ikea Galant desk. It's solid, large, and simple.

jesus that desk/area you have for your comps looks like a damn mess!! You need to spread out everything - change the walls up - get rid of the childish posters add some hanging frames and nice photo's etc.. make it more modern.

Here check this out: (this is only the right side of my home office too)

Holy ****, The Amish are on the internet!

Have you considered a glass desk? Mine is glass and I love it.

I had a similar IKEA desk like yours and pretty much he same thing happened. At the end it was such a bend in it, had to get rid of.

Haven't found anything as nice, that is also solid yet.

No offense, but first I would clean up before buying a new desk. Clear that clutter, and you might be able to fit a bigger desk in there to give yourself more room.

This was an old picture. I have it much better clean now.

Edit: I do not want a glass one. My dual LCD stand has a clamp. Really don't want to break that, too.

Try the Ikea MALM. it's nice and huge and has a extra side table you can slide in and out if you want. the composite top should be able to handle all that weights and clamps. got one myself and it's great, prefer corner desks but it wasn't really possible in the current office room arrangement.

the Galant tables are also a great option.

I believe I said no glass? And the closest Ikea to us is like a 2 hour drive. So if I can get it at a local store or shipped, that will be better.

And I can't have a L desk. I have very small room. The desk I have is a like perfect fit.

My two Galant desks are sold and sturdy, love them no bending or buckling and I've had em for close to 3 years now, the smaller of the two is now starting to lose some of the coloring in high usage areas

See if your closest Ikea delivers, I know mine 3 towns over does, but it's a fairly new service here

I have an Ikea Galant too and I'm very happy with it. Feels really solid!
