The media and this forum is decidedly anti gun, they will do anything in their power to shove any story that puts guns in a bad light in our faces.

This is a general tech forum. People dont come here for either side. what you see here kinda represents the real world. Majority of people don't want guns everywhere, especially military styled weapons.

Not true in the U.K they had over 6000 gun crimes last year. You wont hear them complaining about that though, they'd much rather complain about us.

A lot of gun crimes in the UK are simply people owning them illegally. Owning a firearm component or live ammunition is also an offence, so any of those would also be categorised under gun crimes. Owning an immitation firearm is another offence.

When you take into account all of the above offences, I suspect you would be left with hardly any crimes where guns are actually used to hurt people. Indeed I believe there were only 30 something deaths in 2012; that's a number I've seen thrown around this forum, I haven't actually found a source which confirms this myself.

The restaurant's manager says the company is now considering banning customers from bringing in concealed firearms.

Tough choice....

Only, and I mean only, in America.

Oh really? The majority of anti gunners that comment in these threads are from the U.K,last I checked they don't have a say in American domestic law. Secondly with talks of a ban on semi auto rifles there has been a spike in New gun owners go into a gun shop and try to buy an AR-15, you won't be able to because they are being sold practically as they hit the shelves.

IL just tried to pass a ban that banned pretty much every semi auto firearm including shotguns but they cancelled the vote because they didn't have the support, a chairwoman cited that she was bombarded by phone calls, emails and faxes. Those weren't made by the NRA those were made by regular people. If all of the support is on your side then why weren't those calls in support of that legislation?

Why are you hung up on calling them military style weapons? Because they look like military weapons? Lol,they function just like any other semi auto rifle and the AR-15 is a pea shooter in comparison to a 308 semi auto.

Well there shouldn't be any guns in the hands of U.K citizens since there was a ban. The U.S is different from the U.K in regards of life style. We already have violent murderous street thugs that kill with guns. You reckon they'll stop if a ban is in place? They'll continue and the murder rate will increase. Normal people will be charged with felonies for owning a gun while murderers continue to do what they do best.A ban would bring an influx of criminals that were once law abiding g citizens into the prison system. Last I checked most of our prisons are over crowded as it is,now arresting someone for simply owning a firearm, it would get ridiculous.

Actually it was higher than that at close to 10,000, however the USA was running at close to 300,000 - so no comparison really.

Well considering they have a ban on handguns and tight restrictions on other firearms that's a lit of crimes plus they're country is small.

Gun crimes in the UK also includes robberies done with replicas and softguns, as well as the legal to own shotguns and bolt actions guns, and small magazine semi automatics and hunting accidents/crimes.

Yep murderous street thugs will all the sudden stop murdering with firearms once a.ban is in place. You cant compare your tiny country to ours especially when you dont have the same type of people there.

Are you saying gun crime wouldn't decrease with tighter restrictions on guns?

35 vs 11,450~ Gun homicides in 2011, if you ban guns the kind of people you read in the news going on rampages in malls, schools, cinemas wont have free access to weapons so will decrease.

Yep, street thugs own guns now illegally they also murder with them a ban woukd not effect them one bit. Plus all of the people arrested for simply owning a gun that a month earlier would.of been legal. Gun crimes.qould increase and.more people would be thrown in jail. We already.know banning of handguns and tight restrictions dont work here. D.C and Chicago prove it.

How do you know banning them doesn't work, it seems to have worked with a lot of European countries?

If you are going to ban them then ban them, don't make a half arsed attempt.

Do a blanket ban, offer a gun amnesty, after that give people HEAVY punishments for just being in possession of a gun and watch the gun death stats drop.

11,000 people died because of guns............. there is no way you can spin that positively.

Gun deaths are hardly a rare event, you read them every other week in the news, has been a lot more recently as well.
