Snake clings to plane wing on Australian flight

Recommended Posts

Stunned Qantas Airways passengers watched out their windows as a large python clung to a plane's wing during a two-hour flight from Australia's northeastern city of Cairns to Papua New Guinea.

The 3-meter (10-foot) python fought to stay on the wing, pulling itself forward only to be pushed back by the frigid wind.

Passenger Robert Weber videotaped the struggle and told Australia's Fairfax Media that the wind whipping the snake against the side of the plane left a bloody smear.

The python managed to hang on until the plane landed in Port Moresby, but a Qantas spokesman said the creature was dead on arrival.

i figured it would not survive for a few reasons mainly how much it was flailing around and secondly how cold it is. Sad that it had to die though.

It wasn't the wind that caused the blookd, it was the flap movement on the wing crushing it.

There are better places to sit on a Dash 8 is you're a snake.

It was also a Sunstate Airlines flight who operate for Qantas.

"Enough is enough! I have had it with these monkeyfied snakes on this Monday through Friday plane!"

For those that didn't know. That was the censored line on the TV version of the movie. You can guess what the original words were. :)

Least it didn't have to try to eat ariline food :p

On a serious note, it was a shame, does anyone know if it was an endangered species or if someone on the plane spotted it before takeoff?

Edit, nevermind, I just watched the video, posted on the link, it wasn't an endangered species
