I attended a gun rights rally on the steps of our capitol building in Frankfort, KY yesterday, and while I was there I tried to take plenty of photos, and of course some video. I found out about the event on Facebook, and about 260 people had RSVP'd on there, but we had quite a bit more than that actually show up. I was kind of wary at first, I was expecting somebody to try and cause a scene and get us all arrested, which is why I only carried what I always carry anyway, my Smith & Wesson Sigma pistol. My logic was that, if something happens and they start arresting people, I don't want my AR to be the weapon police get to confiscate. Once I got there though I found out that the state police were very polite and the senators' representatives were very polite and just about everybody who attended the rally was just a "good ol' boy" wanting to defend their right to keep and bear arms. I'd say a vast majority of the people there were veterans. I saw guys like me who were veterans of Iraq or Afghanistan, and I saw older gentlemen from Korea and Vietnam as well. People brought their children, we had a few speakers, and nobody got shot, it was a very interesting experience for me, because even though I know I'm a safe gun owner, the media would have you think that every time there's a gathering with firearms somebody gets shot, and I don't think I saw anybody here acting in an unsafe manner.

Anyway, I've uploaded some photos to an album on Google+ for everybody to see if you're interested.

That guy has a nice ACR, its not a SCAR.

Don't like the silly hyperbolic(probably wrong word I'm after but my minds gone blank) signs they had, think its great that like minded people get together for things they believe in.

Just a shame there are more people who spoil it for the rest than there are sensible people.

Corrected the caption on the guy with the ACR. I'm an AR guy, not quite rich enough to pick up those higher-end rifles, and have never really handled them much, we didn't even have them in the military, at least my unit didn't, so my only real reference for what they look like is CoD, :p

Haha, the military is looking for replacements for the M4 I think they are looking at the Bushmaster ACR as its replacement.

My dream gun is the SCAR Mk17 civilian version the 17S.

All of those pictures make me happy to see people standing up for their rights. Makes me glad I can live in a country where I can have the freedoms that my ancestors fought for, and paid for, in blood.

Quite right. No sense in sitting back and letting them take all our rights away.

^ You may need a gun to prevent that. ;)
