Does anyone here watch the MTV show CatFish?
It's basically a show about having people who are in online relationships meet for the first time. Usually one of them is a liar.
I find the show to be hilarious because i've had similar situations years ago where i'd talk to girls in chat rooms, and they send pictures which end up not being them and such.
I quit going to chat rooms probably 10+ years ago. Mostly because of how fake everyone is, and it just became weird to me. and Yahoo Chat became full of spambots.
It's not the fact that the girls ended up being ugly, or fat, or whatever. But it's most weird due to you connecting someone's personality to an image, and you use that image becomes real in your head over time as you think of them, so its too weird when you meet them, or find out who they really are to carry on a relationship with.
I was young back then, so i didn't know better.
But it's weird seeing how old and naive some of these people are on this show.
I think its sad for the person who had to lie, they obviously want to be loved, so they create an image that they think someone will love, and usually like i said, it's too weird for the other person to carry on the relationship after they see what they really look like. Messes with your head. And they are left alone, and even more insecure and a lower self esteem.
Anyways i just heard of the show today and started watching. I found some old topics here from like 2011 about it, but didnt want to revive them.
does anyone watch this show? have similar stories?
