Alienware running slow

Hey guys i have a problem which is DOING MY HEAD IN!! My laptop just gets slower and slower the longer i use it i'm not gaming just coding PHP i have run the system monitor and have attached a screen grab,

but i dont know what i'm looking at

here is my spec

Alienware MX17r3

i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20Ghz

8GB High speed RAM (Kingston i think)

128Gb SSD crucial

Windows 8

Firefox 18.0.1

it boots up quick (about 10sec) just after a few hours gets slower,

How would i find out temps it does get hot and the fan runs fast but i just found out that firefox was running very slow (been on for 4hours) so switch to IE and it run up just fine FAST so maybe its just firefox that has

problems???

it would appear to be just firefox (i should have checked this before posting here sorry)

OK it is just firefox when i leave firefox open just on google.com laptop lid closed (screen off but awake) after 8 hours fan still running slow if i close firefox fan stops after 30min

Using firefox after 10min fan fast after 1 hour things slowing down 4 hours slowing to a stop for upto 10 seconds

If you want to take the easy route, reinstall Firefox. I know it might be a pain, but it'll be a lot easier and faster to do that than to pin point the exact reason as to why Firefox is running slowly.

If I'm not mistaken, all of your bookmarks and such should still be there when you re-install, but don't quote me on that.

Unless he erases his personal data (option in uninstaller) he is fine.

Are you using a lot of flash driven websites? ( also your disk / network is topping out. - do you know why? )

No flash websites

How can I find out why disk and network are topping out

What do you have open in Firefox for 4 Hours +.. From what I can see it's getting something from amazon s3 and flash player is being used

As others have stated the Firefox profile is smothering the disk io - maybe consider moving the Firefox profile to a ramdisk. If you google "firefox profile ramdisk" you'll see loads of different ways of setting it up.

4 hours? My Ulrabook has been going non stop for 4 months, and still going superfast.

ok i have an update on this i reinstalled FireFox no joy still the same so i installed Chrome this lasted about 30min when i just crashed HOWEVER...

IE works just fine shame its just not the browser i want to use infact it winds me up lol

Any ideas what could the problem be???

Scan for viruses/malware.

First thing i done mate nothing come back

Did you get some Win 8 update that might slow things down ?

Nope always been a problem just been putting up with it

Maybe run a error check.
