most new mercs have daytime lights that are on all the time, doesnt what if you press AUTO or ON on the lights. the wipers however you can override those automatic ones are never fast or slow enough

you'd be an idiot if you wanted to disable your day time running lights. What if your passing someone on the highway and a car coming from the opposite direction with the sun in their eyes and can't see your car to slow down? What harm is it doing to your car if they are on? not a damn thing.

If you're overtaking someone without leaving enough room for oncoming traffic (or requiring them to slow down considerably to avoid hitting you) then you're an idiot.

I get what you're trying to say but you just chose a terrible example to describe it ;)

The problem I have with DRL is that a lot of car manufacturers (especially in America) just use the turn indicators as the DRLs. It's the same story with some cars that use the same bulb for brake lights and rear turn indicators. There's no regulation against it in the US so a lot of manufacturers do it in order to save on costs.

You can turn the daytime lights off in the settings...I can in my '07 CLS, and also possible on a '12 E class coupe, and a '13 C class, at least the US versions.

Hmm, it's a '10 E, I didn't check in the settings,

Personally i like daytime lights, the only time where it can cause a problem i guess is when your hiding from your wife/gf In the car... The lights give it away :(

Haha I'm sure there is a story to that. Well, here is a link to the 2010 E owners manual (if you're curious to turn it off), granted it's the USA version, so yours might be slightly different.

In my Ford Focus, I can choose the normal manual speed options or AUTO or OFF. When OFF is selected, it means the wipers are OFF. and if any manual option is selected it it will behave like convential wipers. If Auto is selected, it will wipe at any speed it likes. To turn off Auto, simple select OFF or any one of the manual speed options. Simple.

My car also have automatic headlights. And I set mine to turn off 40 seconds after I turn off the car (Follow Me Home) maknig it extremely useful to see climbing the stairs to my home and unlocking the front door.

Also have anti-glare rear-mirror :)

My car is a 2012 Ford Focus Trend. Winning Blue colour.
