Audi future lighting tech

I think the last thing we need is "pimped" out brake lights. Distraction much?

A big chunk of all the road accidents is when someone rear-ends a car in the front.

Rear-ends a car in the front? That doesn't really make any sense...

Hits the car in front of them aka rear-ends them.

Okay, then I still don't understand what he was getting at. Having designs in your brake lights would probably cause more rear-end accidents since it would be a distraction.

I agree. This looks terrible.

On a somewhat similar note, I hate how lots of cars in America don't have amber turn signals because the NHTSA doesn't require them.

How is it a distration, when in fact, it's the opposite - it catches the attention of the driver going behind, they look at it, they can't miss it, and they keep the distance...

The Swarm, imho, is mind-blowing!

I can't wait for the future!

They can be Amber or White, right? But yeah, I don't like it when people have white since it doesn't catch your eye as much.

When I was in high school, I put blue turn signals in my car. Yeah, that lasted about 2 days before I got reamed out by the 5-0. :pinch:

Because some crazy design doesn't indicate they are stopping. There's nothing better about it than a red light that gets brighter when the brake is pressed. Maybe if the car had rear sensors, it could detect if a car was coming up too fast and starting blinking furiously, but that doesn't need OLEDs and some flashy design. Braking is a simple concept and anything fancy, which stands out, is just a distraction.

If you're distracted by the "tail lights" of the car "in front of you" and you rear end them, you probably don't need to be on the road. That's the whole point of this lighting system. To get the attention of the person behind you.

No they can be amber or red, so most manufacturers just use the brake light as turn indicators.

Everywhere else turn signals have to be amber.
