Azusa
Ok so as of late my new Galaxy S3's battery status has been showing some rather short times (see image) do some Samsung batteries go bad early or is this an issue with something else? The Evil Overlord
7 minutes at 95%??? I think you might have gotten a bad battery, and the fault in it has appeared Mine's on 45% and still shows as 2 days 15 hours left. If it's under warranty I'd demand a replacement, or you might need to buy another one Sorry

Azusa
this is after a day with no charging could it be something else or is it still the battery?
The Evil Overlord
Well it's an improvement, do you know offhand what kind of standby time you get from fully charged to dead? (I might be wrong but it looks like that battery monitor might be miscalibrated, can happen it you have too many monitors, so I've been told)
Azusa
I did have this installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaverpro also would i go about recalibrating the monitor?
The Evil Overlord
I'm not sure, I think the stock monitor will simply recalibrate itself, once you've gone a few charge cycles, my s3 is completely stock (but that's because I never needed more than it had to offer, I use most of it, email, planner, maps etc...) You could try disabling it, or uninstalling it, but if you paid for it, please make sure you can redownload before you do. Do you still get 3 days standby? (or linger, if like me, you turn it off when asleep?) edit 'linger' was meant to be longer Edited January 27, 2013 by Dushmany

ThePokedPenguin
Erm... isnt the time shown the amount of time since the phone was taken off the charger, not the amount of time left in the battery???
nekkidtruth
Erm... isnt the time shown the amount of time since the phone was taken off the charger, not the amount of time left in the battery??? Yes. However it's amusing watching them try to figure out why their battery only has 7mins left on a 100% charge ;) Edit: I figured I'd at least be a little helpful after laughing. I wouldn't bother using any apps to calibrate. The easiest way to calibrate your battery is to allow it to fully discharged (until it turns itself off), then plug in the charger but leave the phone off. Charge it 100% while the phone is off. When it hits 100%, unplug it and turn it on. This re-calibrates the battery. This is not something you should do often. It's actually quite rare that your battery will need calibration but this should be done at least once and highly recommended within the first few days of owning the phone (first thing I do with every new phone). If you'd like to know how much time you have left on your battery, there a ton of apps that will show you this. Most of them are pretty accurate. Be careful of any of the overly bloated apps that do this as they'll just eat your battery anyway. Davo and ThePokedPenguin 2 Share

As per the screenshot, I'm assuming you are on Jellybean? In that case, its known media scanner bug of Jellybean which has been fixed on 4.2 https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/8ab2dc2f9680307febe997631c2148729f714e3d
