Well in my experience, pretty much every one that I have ran into from the bible belt states have been completely nuts. In the more liberal parts of America it tends to vary. I knew an Atheist that lived in Little Rock, Arkansas and it was a common occurrence for Christians to ask her (not even in a joking way) if she drank blood. Christians like to push the lie that they're more progressive and tolerant than Muslims, and whilst they are admittedly less violent, based on my experienced i'd say that's a lie.

Christians do not strap bomb belts on their Children. All of the Christians I know are tolerant of others and don't try to force their Religion on them. Some do that which I am totally against. When they knock on my door and want me to read their literature I get upset. People have a right to believe that as they choose but they do not have the right to force their beliefs on others which is exactly what The French are trying to prevent.

Allow me to chime in ...

I am a little bit surprised that this is actually news because this is not the first time a foreign Muslim clerics is deported.
The problem is that there is a large Muslim community in France and they want to practice their religion.
Because of the separation of State and Religion in France, the Muslim community tends to get money and clerics from foreign countries to build mosques.
And things go bad for a small number of clerics who preach things that are not really compatible at all with the rest of the country.

After that, France is really a rather welcoming country. There are plenty of people who can practice their religion without troubles as long as this covenant is respected:
'There is no other laws in France than the ones of the French Republic'
Still, there are failures in the politic of integration of immigrants in France and this is a big problem but the vast majority lives happily there.

Well, there are some extremist Christians in France but I do not recall that there were murder of doctors or arson of clinics.
However, there have been a very vocal traditionalist Christian/right to extreme-right group against the upcoming law for same-sex marriage.
There was the big demonstration of January 19th in Paris against that law.
According to a poll done after the demonstration, support for the 'Marriage for all' law raised from 60% to 63% and a demonstration for that law last week-end mobilized more people than expected.
This is a funny thing in that country: bigotry withers there, it takes some time but the prejudices disappear one after the other

^ I should have been more clear, the topic had strayed somewhat and the US was being referenced by then, which is where those things I mentioned, happened.

I actually quite like France's stance on this issue, but I won't be surprised if these buggers appear to the EU court of human rights, like they do in the UK when we try to deport the buggers.

They can try and they are going to fail. Most of them are not European citizens so I would be surprised if the EU court of human rights could intervene.
They can try the 'Freedom of speech' stuff but this is unlikely to work either. There are hate speech laws in France and the imams have largely crossed that line.

Violence is only one facet of the crimes religious people commit against non religious. When it comes to intolerance and bigotry I don't see Christians behaving that much better than Muslims.

I never said I disagree with France's decision, I'm just tired of hearing Christians pretend that they're better when they aren't.
