Burger King admits to horse meat in its burgers, including the world-famous Whoppers, in its United Kingdom locations. The news comes two weeks after the popular fast food restaurant chain first denied the presence of horse meat in its food. According to a Jan. 31, 2013 report by The Daily Mail, "The contaminated burgers were made by the Irish-based processing company, Silvercrest, which is part the ABP Foods Group."

Blocks of frozen meat from a non-approved supplier in Poland turned out to be the culprit. The imported beef contained minute amounts of horse meat that made their way into burgers, including those sold at Burger King.

The news that Burger King admits horse meat in its burgers only after two weeks of denials is leading some to believe an intentional coverup was being perpetrated on unwitting consumers. One theory has it that the company denied the presence of horse meat in its food long enough to procure an alternate supplier.

I don't know about the UK, but over here I noticed some change in the Whopper meat, some years ago.

Who knows what might be in them ...

So much for 'we only use angus beef' blah blah, haha CAUGHT out lying again importing it from a polish supplier!
I'm waiting for them to be sued for using the 'flame grilled' statement now, they always used to flame grill but for the past 2 years every unfortunate time I went to a BK, it was microwaved.

NPR did a good cover of the story.

Pork & Horse DNA found in "meat". It was due to a supplier of a supplier shipped it to various company's including Burger King.
(From article) Irony - it may of been actually healthier then the real thing.

I don't know why people would be offended that they ate horse meat instead of cow meat. Both animals seem to have the same intelligence (both seem highly intelligent to me).

But it seems horse meat should taste better than cow meat, since they seem less fatty.
