Exactly. I have the S3 which has GC2. Anything that would affect the screen, would so with a protector on it as well. This stuff is tough.

Is this really true? I mean, a key or something isn't going to scratch it?

The person at Verizon considered it so important after they took away my antiquated flip phone, (She called others over to see it!) that she put one on for free.

The gorilla glass 2 version is very strong. This doesn't mean that it wont scratch or break though. Certain situations with even the materials used in these videos can result in a scratch. But normally, your phones should be fine without them.

I've had my S3 for a little over 3 months now. Haven't used a screen protector at all, and my screen is still perfect. I keep keys, pens, locks, and other things in my pockets during the day while working, and it still doesn't haven't a blemish on it.

I don't use one on the smartphone, however my tablet is very well protected. More surface area to be messed up.
