First off, they're not my machines, this company is trying to resell them on craigslist, they are not going to throw them out or donate them, or reuse them for something else.

K that aside, anyone have any realistic idea what these spec'd machines can go for on craigslist? Just the tower/kb/mb/copy of windows

Ask yourself what you might use them for and what you would pay for them. I would say $50-75 for most of them, $150-$200 for the laptop.

Honestly, when the companies I work for have machines like this they want to get rid of they either go to an employee who wants one for his kid or I donate them to a school.

There just isn't a marketable purpose for machines like that.

All I'm going to say is good luck to them. I'd say shipping cost > actual worth.

Have the company donate them locally and get a tax credit for that instead.

The thing is users (or the OP) say the SAME thing, other users still say "donate", the OP says he made it clear, and people keep reposting them, OP keeps telling them NO...........and finally OP gets warned.

Sad world.

Anyways, you could use them as test servers for nEXTeowin

The XP machines, ~$40, the laptop maybe $100. They might be worth more, but at those prices you'll actually sell them.

I'd say 50 bucks at most, 100 for the laptop, although I wouldn't pay that much.

Schools typically don't want them because they are on a replacement cycle with a large vendor, that has been my experience in the last 10 years with trying to hand off old hardware to them.

New computers are so cheap these days that most people wouldn't even want them. As mentioned the shipping alone would probably be more than they are worth. They may have better luck just selling the individual parts and sending the rest to the recyclers, or selling them locally for pickup.

The exception being the laptop of course, it would certainly be worth selling.

#1-6 are basically worthless unless a buyer(s) on Craigslist happens to be looking for old stuff, which is probably a rarity. Even so, they are maybe worth $20. Maybe a little more if they are in good, clean condition and are a good brand (eg. HP, IBM, etc).
Honestly, I just don't think it's worth the time trying to sell these. Best bet would be to donate them to Good Will and take the tax write-off (if they allow it).

#7 is perhaps around the $100-150 range also depending on the condition and brand.

I don't know if these is a feasible option but it might be worth your while re-selling the license keys for $10, HDD for $10, RAM for $10 and then try and get money for recycling the case. Given the shipping costs involved with shipping the whole computer, it might be cheaper over all selling the parts individually. You could try re-selling the CPU too but it's unlikely to sell :p I might be wrong, but in this instance your computers may cost less then the sum of their parts :p

The Win OSes are probably(?) OEM so they can't be resold, but selling off the rest of the parts piece by piece is probably the best option. Believe it or not old RAM can sell on Craigslist, though 256mb-512mb sticks will be a harder sell no doubt. They won't sell for a lot (guessing less than $10 apiece?) but it's still something. If it's Rambus RAM it'll be worth a bit more, those are harder to replace in older systems.

The other parts I'm not even sure if you can sell them.. maybe try selling the hard drives together as a lot & see if you can get $15-$20 for them. Someone doing data recovery might want to buy them for the controller boards if they're still operational.

Motherboards could be worth something if they're from specific computer OEM models that someone might be looking to replace a dead board with.. again, won't be worth much maybe $20 if you're lucky to sell at all.

re: the laptop, someone on Ebay might be interested in the chassis if it's in decent condition. $50-$100?

To be honest, I'd be surprised if a business actually wanted you to spend hours on trying to sell equipment that'll only amount to $50 or so. My boss would have some pretty strong opinions on the cost/labor involved for this sort of thing.. just saying ;)
