What Was Your First Gaming Console?

Recommended Posts

Mine was the ColecoVision. I thought that was the most awesome console back then. I hated the joysticks though. They were a pain to use. I remember this thing was quite expensive too. $300.00 if I remember correctly?

I think my first console was an Atari 2600. Probably around 7 yrs old. The first console that I loved was my NES!

I think I rented the NES w/Super Mario so many times that my parents decided it would be cheaper just to buy it for me.

My first video game consoles were hand-me-downs from my Dad - Colecovision and Intellivision. But I'm a child of the late 80s and 90s so the ones I purchased new were:

NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360.

Had most of the others over the years until around the N64, after that I was pretty much PC only for gaming. Kind of miss the old Vectrex and Intellivision, fun games with crappy controllers.

Earliest console's I've played / remember

Vic 20 (Parents), Atari 2600 (Grandparents), Intellivision (Console - Cousins House).

The Vic 20 would constantly over heat and freeze up. No storage / safe feature either.

1st "modern" game console parents bought for me - Nintendo Entertainment System.

I think my first was that PONG one someone posted, I was pretty young at the time.

Long before Intellivision and Colecovision anyways, and I've had both of them, and have had many consoles since to this date

I think first one I owned was Mega Drive II. I do remember when I was in some hotel they had a room full of old Atari's and I used to play missile command :D

The Atari 2600 was my first console. Besides playing the classic games like Space Invaders and Asteroids, I remember playing games like Dragonfire, such an awesome game, and sitting in front of the TV confused for the longest time trying to figure out what the hell I was suppose to do in the Star Wars game.

Of course I eventually figured out what I was suppose to do in Star Wars when I got older, but as a 2-3 year old kid, I had no clue what was going on.

The original Mega Drive, not the 2 variant posted earlier. The first I owned personally is tied between the original Playstation and the Game Boy.

My family had a Pong console so that was my first experience with them, but the first console of my very own was a ColecoVision. I used to play Donkey Kong for hours at a time and later on I got the expansion module to play Atari 2600 games. It lasted me until I got my NES years later.
