patseguin Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted February 5, 2013 Can you plug Serial ATA drives into a NAS (or anything for that matter) while the system is powered on or should you power it off first? I have a Dynology DS1511+ with a DX513 expansion unit with all the bays but 1 filled. I want to plug the new drive in while it's on but I want to make sure that's OK before I do it. hutchinson_1989
You should be fine connecting another drive. The NAS you've bought has support for hot-swappable drives.
game_over
As long as it features hot swappable drives, yes. most do.
