New Build Not Booting

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a new PC build, parts in links below:-

When booting, all fans start and I the keyboard is responsive but no there's no output to the display. After a few seconds, the keyboard becomes unresponsive and then the machine seems to restart.

Here's what I've tried:-

  • Different RAM
  • Different RAM in all possible combinations
  • Different PSU
  • Tried it out-of-case incase of shorting
  • With and without external GPU
  • All possible video card outputs
  • Without any optical / hdd plugged in

The problem remains regardless.

Could anybody point me in the right direction? My current thought is either the Motherboard or CPU is a dud.

can you get into the BIOS? Are you sure you have all the appropriate power cables connected to the motherboard? for example, is the CPU power cable connected? Does it need the full 8-pin connector, or does the 6-pin suffice?

Unfortunately there's no display output so BIOS isn't accessible.

Let me get back to you about the pin connectors. I'll double check.

Take out the battery. Wait 15 seconds or so. Put it back in and turn it on. If still nothing, check the voltage on batter or try a new battery. If still nothing, I'm thinking it's the MB.

Thanks Neu B. That unfortunately didn't seem to make a difference.
