if it wasnt for this forum the loud and clear message to ms on windows 8 shortcomings wouldnt have gotten through.

now to wait for the amendments to be made by MS.

Reading the boards and making changes based on what they read are 2 completely different things.

They probably read this boards... and send people like Do* Ma**** to create havoc with those who have a different opinion of Win 8 and the choice between the disappeared start menu and the start screen :D

There's an important distinction here between making changes to support scenarios and problems highlighted by user feedback, and adopting specific implementation suggestions made on forums etc. "I want a way to launch more apps without leaving the context of the apps I'm currently displaying" (for example), is a scenario. "I want the specific start menu UI found in Windows 7" is an implementation detail.

My guess is they will be influenced by problem reports, including at places like this; they won't be influenced much by suggested solutions (especially solutions of the form "change it back to what it was in a previous version") as it's the designers' job to come up with their own solutions (that fit into the rest of the design and the overall design vision).

so it is stuck up designers vs stuck up startmenu lovers. awesome!

There are approximately 1.75 billion computer users in the world (supposely), and 92% (give or take a point) are on a windows OS of some kind, thus that means there are less than 1% on Neowin. So do you really believe in your heart that MS will care one way or another what is being said on Neowin.
