Casino worker stumbles across $10,000

Recommended Posts

A cleaning woman at the Thunder Valley Casino near Sacramento, Calif., hit the jackpot when she found $10,000 in cash in the women's restroom last week. But the lucky woman didn't take the money and run. Instead, Meuy Saelee turned in the stack of Benjamins to her supervisor and got a nice bonus in return for her honesty.

CBS-13 in Sacramento spoke to Saelee about the discovery. She said she found the cash at around 2:30 a.m. in the casino's high-stakes restroom. Saelee says she didn't hesitate to do the right thing.

Upon giving the $10,000 to its rightful owner, Saelee was presented with a $500 thank-you.

I've got a slight guilt from my childhood, not exactly stealing but not honest either, my grans friends just bought a house, the previous owner was a rag and bone man who had died, I was tasked with removing the kitchen units from the walls

The 2nd unit I removed dropped about ?160 in notes stuffed inside a money bag that had been hidden behind the unit, I guess the old guys savings

I kept it, at the time I figured it wasn't really stealing as it did not belong to anyone alive

Still feel guilty about that today 20 years later, but not really sure who I would have given it to, I guess it legally belonged to the new owners but being 13~ and still on 50p pocket money I justified it with myself
