MLIFE Posted February 11, 2013 Share Posted February 11, 2013 I feel uncertain with what tablet to get. I have been looking at tablets to take notes whilst video recording a lecture. Only heard people with the Surface doing something similar. Been thinking of either an Android or Windows 8/Windows 8 RT. (Haven't seen laptops with a camera on the back) Was thinking between Nexus 10, Samsung Note 10.1, Asus Android Tablets, Acer W510 (Windows 8), Asus ME400C(Windows 8), Asus Vivo RT and Surface RT. Only reason I considered Nexus 10 is because I could use Pleco https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pleco.chinesesystem&hl=en Have any of you had experience with Tablets for note taking at University, or even better if any of you have used their tablets to video record lectures you attend for later watching? Chasethebase Reporter Posted February 11, 2013 Reporter Share Posted February 11, 2013 I personally haven't used one myself, but from observing our lecture rooms almost everyone who has one has an iPad. I don't know if you'd consider one but that's just my observation. Surface seems like a good idea because you have the kickstand/keyboard combination already there, and typing on a physical keyboard is much quicker than on a screen. I have a Kindle Paperwhite to read PDFs but I don't think I will use a stylus as my handwriting is horrible :(. Most of my textbooks aren't sold digital (Australian Law) Can the iPad record with the camera whilst in the background due to taking notes? Cheers! With the stand out the video camera will be pointed at your lecturer and you can have your note taking app open at the same time as the camera app. Use OneNote and you could link the video to your notes.
