The New Mac Pro

Recommended Posts

Let's post any news here about the new Mac Pro.. it seems that the new PRO Mac won't be traditional Mac Pro.. it might be something completely redesigned based on what Tim Cook noted recently.

There's a high chance that they will announce it at WWDC in June

If you see more news post here

What's there to troll about a 12 Core server? Honestly, it's due for a good upgrade with Intel, and I don't find much wrong with the prices as far as performance and future compacting goes.

also this mac pro refresh is way too late... the media pros are flocking to windows.... lots of djs complain about the mac pros they have are too slow for stuff and that's why they take forever to release new tracks... one switched to a windows pc and he's been putting out lots more new tracks lately!!!!

Thread cleaned

Wow, a thread that has been around for all of an hour and I've had to remove 7 posts already. Come on guys, the thread is for news on the new Mac Pro. If you can't talk about Apple products nicely in here, don't bother posting. We don't need people saying, "why would you buy a Mac when you could buy <other product> for a cheaper price!"

The two top promoted comments after the article on Ars pretty much sum up my feelings on the Mac Pro and Apple's attitude to things of late.

I honestly would buy the Mac Pro if they made it more affordable but I gave up waiting for either some movement on the price or a hardware refresh and just built a Hackintosh :|

Shame that the Mac Pro 'tower' case (as we know it) is on the way out of the door as well.. I still think that's one of the finest enclosures for a workstation today. They're so solid and well engineered.. if a little prone to scratching :) The replacement has very big shoes to fill just on the case alone!

For a company that has a so many employees (and some of the industries "best" designers and engineers in the field, apparently) they sure take a very long time to do what other companies seem to do every other month (i.e, put out a new machine).

Personally I'd like to see them put out a new Mac Pro that's totally nuts spec wise (there is a market for computers like this) and another one that sits somewhere between the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro; something that looks cool and that doesn't require you to basically buy a new computer when you want to upgrade it AND doesn't cost ridiculous money.

I know, that'll never happen.

Thing is apple is in the "post pc" mindset and that is not likely to change... they care more for iphone and ipad and less about thier professional market.

I've said it in a few threads allready.... the mobile crowd is more hip for them and the professional market is boring them and It's obvious... and that same market kept them afloat during the bad times.... what a way to crap on customers....

Indeed.. their faithful, long-term pro customers must feel pretty fed up with the situation.

But lets see if they can do something to rectify it this year!

Apple is known in creating innovations that rocks! I can't wait what they have for Mac Pro. Will it be touch screen too? :)

The Mac Pro/PowerMac doesn't have a build-in screen to begin with. Never had.

Apple really need to wake up with the Mac Pro, if they spec a new one correctly, and put it at a premium, yet competitive price, they may bring it back from its current position. As it stands, it's lacking in many areas where a custom built PC can outrun it in many places. For businesses, many Windows workstation offerings can also do the same, and many people in the graphics/design industries have had to go for 27" iMacs as a result, if Apple do this right, they'll have many people buying these.

If it is another all-in-one, that'll be the end of the Mac Pro.
