Crytek: PS4 and Xbox 720 no match for PC

36 posts in this topic

I don't know what the big deal is. Anybody with common sense and knowledge knows that a gaming console will never match a PC in terms of power and graphics. The cost of making a game console as powerful as a PC is way too high and most consumers (except rich kids with rich parents) will never pay $2,000 for a gaming console.

Wish Crytek would shut up, getting sick of seeing them in the news bragging about their Engine.

I prefer this to douches who sold themselves like Mark Rein.

I find it laughable that come PC Gamers are actually getting excited that they may not being able to Max out Crysis 3 and achieve a playable framerate. Seriously, what kind of gamer gets excited about not being able to play a game?

Who gives a crap if PC gaming is technically better.

Most games that I play or would won't to play are not even on PC's.

Take for example Sony's MLB The Show that is the best baseball game bar none and it will never ever see the light of day on any PC!

Plus in my opinion MLB The Show already looks wonderful on the PS3 so I can only imagine what it will be like on PS4 :)

The only good games on PC's are first persion shooters which I never play anyway.

Trust me the PS4 and Xbox 720 specs are more then enough to please most gamers.

You can't polish a turd, PC ports of console games usually have lower fidelity with regards to models, levels, textures, etc.. no matter how much bloom, motion blur, depth of field you plaster on.

Actually,

.

Honestly, I'd like to know where this crowd is myself. I don't see anyone like that on Neowin, but whenever a PC vs. consoles war flares up, it gets mentioned. Do we not know how to ignore idiots by now? Or does everyone have the same instinctual reaction of flipping out because they read stupid comments on YouTube?

So thin-skinned we are is all I'm gathering here.

Well we know that consoles can't compete technically with PCs. Like SUVs can't compete with Formula 1 cars in a Grand Prix. No points for pointing out the obvious.

I'd say Consoles are like Super/Hyper cars you know complete machines PCs on the other hand are like every other type of car some are used for the weekly shop where as others are built from the ground up and tuned to max to have fun with.

Actually, PC gamers are excited about a game that will take advantage of their system. I played the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta and it ran at 60fps at 2560x1600, max details and anti-aliasing, so it's obviously not that demanding. It was the same with Far Cry 3, which was one of the few games to really push my system. The reason PC gamers are vocal about the quality of ports is that so often games don't take advantage of the PC as a platform - sure they have a better framerate, a higher resolution and anti-aliasing than the console versions but too often they don't use DX11 tessellation, hardware physics (DirectCompute or PhysX), 4-core/6-core CPUs, more than 4GB of RAM, SLI/Crossfire, mouse and keyboard, etc. It's just a waste.

That's what annoys me about console exclusive first-person shooters like Killzone 3 and Halo 4 - they look like decent games but they're hobbled by a horrible control system, low visual fidelity, low framerate (and framerate drops) and CPU limitations (AI, physics, etc). It was the same with Halo Wars, where Microsoft took the studio responsible for great games like the Age of Empires series and forced them to do a console exclusive RTS - unsurprisingly it tanked and the developer was disbanded, which did nobody any favours. It's depressing to see games with such potential be limited or ruined by marketing decisions.

During the PS4 event I wanted to slap the controller from whoever was playing the Killzone demo, plug a mouse and keyboard and show him how it's done.

Console << Gaming PC

one of many reasons why i generaly dislike games that developed for multple gaming platforms (PS#, XBOX#, PC).

but oddly, i still like it when games are developed especialy for specific platform.
