Went from Core 2 Duo > Core 2 Quad > Core i5 Nehalem > Core i5 Sandybridge and HD4850 > GTX470 > HD5850 > HD7850 graphics wise and they are only mid range parts. Sure you can buy low to mid range GPU but to be the PC master race you need everything high end to run games at the kind of detail they like to brag about and that is EXPENSIVE.

Except that's NOT what the other individual said. He said PC gaming is expensive, and it's not if I'm still playing comparable games to consoles at similar if not better as it stands. Your implications that I need something over $200 just to be better off than consoles is incredibly inaccurate.

Again, you're trying to fight a stupid argument to begin with. I don't care for elitists by any means either, but the fact that you're letting some overweight dingbats on the internet ruffle your feathers over machines that run video games is rather sad.

Personally, you've well exceeded my budget by two or three times at least so forgive me if I can't sympathize at all with your point regarding what is and isn't "expensive".

I'm looking forward to the new consoles. I game on whatever I can. But since I've reached 30, had my girl move in, and business has picked up... I just can't sit infront of a computer as long as I could.
And as Larry pointed out, it's hard to beat being able to sit on your comfy couch and relax while you listen to awesome 7.1 real surround sound and play a game on a huge screen.
I'm not a graphics ###### like I used to be, and I'm fine with where everything is. So giving me something that is easy to install, configure, and doesn't need a constant upgrade every few years is something I look forward to.
I also can't just sit and much around with my computer for hours on end to get the best performance and such. I want something, most of the time, that I can just put in and play and enjoy, without the hassle or monkey on my back saying, " You can make this better, just do all of this and that."
It's also hard to justify spending so much on a computer when I have more things I could be plopping 1 to 2 grand on :p Because for me to upgrade my frankenstien computer, I'd have to get all new everything. ( I'm still using IDE hdd's )

I am interested in new consoles, I don't see how anyone interested in games & tech couldn't be interested to see these things.

But of course it's the typical thing where "the internet" is always unimpressed & sooooo over everthing before it even happens. It's kind of pathetic.

That's why my PC is hooked up to my 47" TV, and my "desk" is my coffee table with wireless peripherals, including a 360 controller for the games that support it.

Still doesn't cut it. Only games I play on PC are games that a controller wouldn't be good for. LoL and FPS. Can't sit on a couch comfortably, leaning back, and game with a keyboard and mouse. That's why I choose all types of hardware for my gaming. I get to choose from all the games, exclusives and not.

I think it should be able to pull it off at 1024x600 with low quality settings, which is what the current consoles do.

The 9600GT is a DX10 card. Crysis 3 requires a DX11 card. (Finally. Hope to see more games coming out doing this, but doubt they will anytime soon.)

I dunno, I'm pretty comfortable with the back reclined, laying down with the keyboard on my chest and the mouse at my side.

It's not like I am completely opposed to console gaming, either. I still want to get a PS3 "some day." The problem is that I can't justify the cost so that I can play a small handful of exclusives when I have a perfectly good PC already that plays 95% of the games I want to play, easily and with better graphics. If I were still single I'd probably have a bunch of consoles, but with a family to support now consoles are not economical for me and PC gaming has improved leaps and bounds from where it was when I first bought my SNES or PSone. Back then you pretty much had to choose consoles or PCs because you could not get the same games for both. Now the lines are blurred with most games coming out for all available platforms. Even brand loyalty isn't as relevant with most games coming to Microsoft and Sony. Only Nintendo still sets themselves apart with their many exclusive franchises, but as much as I love Zelda and Mario those aren't the games I want to play anymore, at least not enough to buy another console just for those games. If I get another console it'll be Sony that gets my money just so I can play God of War and a few other Playstation exclusives that have drawn my attention more than what's exclusive to the other consoles.

Yeah but the PC Master race likes to crow about how their graphics are always superior to that of consoles, try playing a latest game using a 3-4 year old graphics card, there is no way you can run them in anything higher than medium at native resolution.

I'd rather buy one £350 box than 2 or 3 £200+ graphics cards, £150 processors, etc.. to guarantee gaming for 10 years.

Really? That's odd. My 6870 seems to be doing that just fine despite your claims of it being impossible.

True. I play everything maxed out on mine at 1080p, except I usually put FSAA at 2x.

I was going to mention that was only 2.5 years ago but then I remembered it's pretty much a 5850 rebranded heh

I for one am not interested. It was nice to see specs but that's all about it, and realization that crappy graphics will continue for 4 more years :D
My ati rad 5850 was good 3 years ago and it will probably last 2 more years.
