So, you need to upgrade that graphics driver. Nvidia tends to be on the better side of the deal on that. They support a lot of legacy cards just fine... AMD on the other hand.... it's a bit tricky.

Also it would be most helpful to actually know the GPU model so we can further assist.

Please let us know :)

You can still download drivers for AMD legacy cards, they're just no longer actively developing them. Shouldn't stop them working properly though.

If I can remember right- depending on the graphic card... It was recommended to re-install the graphic driver. When you upgraded from Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 3 (I am assuming you meant Windows XP).

Also depending on the graphic card to use the newer drivers that were issued post service pack 3 for XP (some older ATI/AMD drivers) also depended on installing at least Microsoft Dot Net 2.0 (some will say 3.0). ATI had split drivers then - some that could use them for their control panel and some that could not.

It would also help if we knew what motherboard you were running.

But I do remember beta and final testing the XPSP2 to XPSP3 and it was recommended to re-install the video driver due to some files being replaced during the upgrade process.

I seem to remember doing that very thing. Seems to have done the trick for me, as far as I can remember.
