This is the Sony BDP-S5100 Blu-ray player - I think prices for this and two lower-end models will be announced in March. Perhaps the design of the PS4 might look something like this?

It's almost like it's speaking out... saying, "DON'T PUT CRAP ON ME, THANKS!"

I would rather have the PSX stereo component design.

Yeah, I guess it's not really stackable...unless you put it on the top...

Plus, I never stack electronics because I think it inhibits airflow.

Also due to the imperfect nature of plastic surface that design only looks good in renders. the old HTC diamond sort of got away with it because the smaller plastic surfaces didn't show the imperfect reflections as well.

Looks cool, but "cooling" is a problem in so small box, 8 cores need some cooler, Yeah, I know, this will be low voltage CPU but still there will be a lot of heat, GPU will also need some cooling, PS 4 in my opinion will be similar with PS3 in size ;)

1st things should be be heat flow and a system that makes no sound. I would rather my friends be wow by what the system can do over what it looks like. This is not a smart phone. Its meant to go into a entertainment center and be forgotten about.

I'm not suggesting it will be exactly like this. I meant the angled front/side designs and the diamond-ish top.

I would rather have the PSX stereo component design.

What does that look like?

Granted it should be black, preferably brushed aluminum black, and a standard 19 inch wide.

Basically it should look like my Silverstone HTPC case

It really does look like HTPC case. It looks too square/boxey for me. Or maybe it is just the white which is a huge turn-off.

Square and boxy is good. square and boxy and 19 inches wide as nice, stackable, fits in withe everything else when it's all black, fits perfectly in pretty much all media furniture.

And more importantly, it doesn't make your media hub look like a mess with 5 different devices that all have different sizes and shapes and aren't stackable.

Nice square stackable standard size boxes can all be stacked in one or two neat stacks, as opposed to a 360, PS3, Wii(U), non standard size DVD player, Non standard size surround kit. which all have different foot prints, aren't stackable and require their own shelfs.

Frankly, it doesn't really bother me if things are different sizes/shapes. I get where you're coming from, but for me, it just doesn't matter because my HT is set-up so everything has its own shelf/area with plenty of ventilation. I get anxious about stacking too many electronics too close together.

Electronics are made to be able to "breathe" properly on their own when stacked, as long as you leave the proper gap. of course stackable get that automatically from their feet. either way, there's actually no problem stackign other stuff on top of say an xbox, provided it's not something soft laying on top of the ventilation.

Of course nothing should need the amount of space these relatively tiny systems do. especially not since these much larger 19 inch wide stackable component end up taking less space, seeing as they don't have to be placed like a stricken puzzle where non eof the pieces fit together.
