Tomb Raider On PC Will Be So Much Better Than On Consoles, If Your Rig Is U

Recommended Posts

Runs very well on my GTX670, looks beautiful :woot: too bad it bombs to desktop quite often though :/ bit of a kill joy that bit. However, that minor inconvenience aside it is fantastic! very happy with it

You consider a game quitting to desktop as a minor annoyance? Drives me completely in-****ing-sane.

Being an avid fan of Fallout 3 and NV, somewhat grown a tolerance for crashes to desktop  I mean I'd rather it didn't but grown accustomed to it, hopefully it can be solved though...

I had about 30mins or so on it this morning and I actually quite like it.

Playing it on ultra on my 7850 (2GB) @ 1920x1080 and it is smooth. The TressFX is actually pretty naff. The hair may look better when stationary, but when you move, it flops about un-naturally. Hair does not move like that. I may well end up turning it off.

Looks like the hair in Alice Madness Returns was better, quite disappointing really. At any rate, my fps are doubled with tressfx disabled (7850 1GB).

Played fro about six hours in total (56% complete) and enjoyed every bit of it. Runs silky smooth on i5-3570k with HD 7950 with everything pretty much on ultra and tressfx enabled. Only drops to 40~ fps when there's a close up of Lara's hair in a cut scene, but that's no big deal. I'm also actually interested to see how the story goes, with all the crazy supernatural stuff.

Played it through to 100% (I was lucky and got my copy last Saturday) and HOLY CRAP this is amazing.

The story has everything, and I gotta say, this is the first game of the year that I can rate a 10/10.

Amazing story, graphics, controls, and pacing. So yeah, enjoy it whether its on PC, PS3 or Xbox, this game is a contender for game of the year.

Haven't played it yet, ran the benchmark.

With TressFX and everything on high/ultra apart from DOF and SSAO getting average 30fps on 2Gb 7850 at 1080p with dips into 20fps :(

Running it on my old system, so that part kinda sucks but...

Holy crap this game is amazing, it's basically a movie with some interactions from you. So good!

this is one of the best games ive played in ages! so much variation and stuff happening to keep the game feeling fresh and enjoyable

completed in 17 hours play (in 2 days xD). Just this minute completed it, waiting for credits to finish to see if I can go back and play

with Lara's trademark double pistols

Never crashed once for me on a GTX650Ti SSC.Played brilliantly. Had to turn tessellation off though or else the water would show through everything. Only glitch/bug I encountered.

I just completed the game.

It's for sure one of the best games I have played in awhile, game of the year for sure. Great story, great action, great gameplay, and I actually beat it without help, which I like.

If you haven't played it, please check it out!

Even with my older system now I'm able to play LC at 1920X1080 with V-Sync turned off and anisotropic set at 2X and normal settings and it's playing great on my system with no issues. Really fun game so far and graphics are excellent and story line and cut scenes integrated well into the story line. And Laura Croft is looking better and better. Funny how in all these games the girls always wearing skin tight tank tops, deserts, jungles, it doesn't matter.

This new Tomb Raider is AMAZING. Certainly one of the best games i've played in a while.

I am playing on a GTX660, i5 3450 and 8GB ram, and can run everything max (up until the recent patch had to have tesselation off though or it crashed), although I turn tressfx off because it doens't look good and does kill the fps during cutscenes.

I don't know what fps I am running at, I have a rule of not looking at fps for fear of seeing a low number and ruining it for myself but it does look smooth.

They've done a really good job of porting this to the PC.

After the latest patch i've been able to turn tessellation on too :)

They have to try to include as many PC gamers as possible. What are they going to do, make it accessible to people whose rig is <6 months old?

Exactly why for games, consoles are better ... you get the experience your developer intended no matter who's PS3 or Xbox360 you're using. Got a PC with all those fancy spec's but a f**ked Windows install ? Could mean your game runs worse. Too many thousands of variables in PC gaming to make it a solid experience. I'd rather not have to keep upgrading where for every couple of components you can probably pick up a console for the same price.

Well with a MacBook Pro you aren't really gonna be championing pc gaming.

You stick with your low quality up scaled console graphics.

You aren't forced to upgrade your components, you might not be able to play everything at max graphics quality with full anti aliasing when your system is old but you still get better graphics than console even at lower quality settings.

And no it really isn't hard - I've had a win 7 install from 2009 that works fine till this day with no installation ball aches.

Besides Steam, origin etc take care of prerequisite installation just fine

I'd take complexity and options over a locked down system any day. With a PC, you can lower settings, tweak, mod, upgrade, while with a console, if the game if poorly made, you're f*cked.

Is there much replay value? Random gameplay elements? Collectables? Non-Linear routes?

not really, I did some of the optional tombs when i played through and tried to pick up as much collectables as I could but I didnt go very far out of my way to do that.

I completed it on my second day playing (17 hours play time) with 80% completed. Haven't touched it again since because theres not much else to do except go hunting animals (which is actually fun) or go collect the rest of the artifacts and tombs i missed.
