I'm DONE thanks to you guys

Recommended Posts

My first build in damn near 7 years is finally ordered thanks to you guys. I just want to say thank you for all the help. I went from this...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 OC'd to 3.24GHz

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

ATI X1950XTX 512MB

2GB XMS2 Corsair RAM

Samsung Spinpoint 1TB HDD

To this...

AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz

ASRock 970 EXTREME3

XFX Core Edition Radeon HD 7850 2GB

G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB

Logitech G500

Logitech K800

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series

Fractal Design Define R4 *BLACK PEARL*

The REASON I'm posting besides saying thank you, is because if there are any suggestions that make sense I can always return a product for another one. An example would be the video card is just as powerful as a cheaper one. I'm looking at pure specs but I've seen some threads where people suggest cheaper products that are much much better. But if there is none of that, this is my new rig after all the questions I've asked. Thanks guys, and gals.

I hope it actually works. ;)

Why wouldn't it?

Couldn't you have stretched your budget for a 8350?

That was the original plan but that one came with a $20 coupon code and I figured I could OC. I keep thinking about that I should have done it tho. I don't think it's been 30 days, I might return it.

My first build did not turn on, at first.

Sometimes the parts are mismatched -- you can read those topics on Neowin.

Sometimes you get a lemon computer part.

You are not truly done, until it powers up and computes something. ;)

I wish you all the best luck tho ....

If it's possible for you switch the 8150 to 8350, the later has some changes made to it which improve performance even if you compare it clock-to-clock with the 8150 ;)

Also I'd suggest to find an 990-series chipset motherboard. I had alot of problems with the 970 Gigabyte board.

Ah! Gotcha. 6 builds so far (for other people) and no dead parts yet thank God. All the parts should be there this week so I can get it together by Friday.

Don't discourage him, those parts are all compatible. :p Sometimes products come out dead out of box, but it happens, easy enough to deal with. @OP, enjoy the build. My desktop is 3+ years old, and shows no sign of slowness (for my uses at least).

I saw the thread title and thought, "someone else making a post about leaving Neowin?" The contents of the thread has been a pleasant surprise.

Congratulations on the build! Be sure to take a couple of photos of it when it's all together to show it off to us. :)

Yeah, I also thought it was going to be one of those attention seeking leaving threads.

Congrats on the new build, C-Squarez! It looks like a great build and a massive upgrade from what you had.

Yeah I've dealt with RMA before and I'm EXTREMELY patient so dead parts won't bother me. Fingers crossed it won't happen tho!

When I was younger I used to get so upset I would always talk about leaving Neowin but as I got older I realize how foolish that sounds. Even though I might run into some unsavory members, this is STILL the best community online to me. I love this place.

And yeah I'm waiting on the case and I will take a few pictures! Can't wait.

A word of advice before installing your new CPU in the board, some boards do not support the new bulldozer CPUs out of the box and need an older CPU installed first to update the BIOS, then swap for the new CPU

So if you can't get it to boot, try that first

Haha, my first build I screwed the mobo into the case without those screws that lift the board up, and I didn't know why it wasn't turning on...Yeah, not my greatest start ever :p at least it didn't break!

But yes, those parts look fine to me, though I can't say much about AMD CPU equipment because I've only used Intel myself. And once you use that SSD, you'll wonder how you ever survived on a Samsung Spinpoint! I have a 1TB one too and use it as my game drive now.

Hope your build goes nice and smoothly :D

Reported for misleading title!

Not really,

The build sucks tho. Send it to me, I'll get rid of it for you

(or just keep it for myself and save a ton of money) :p

it's cheap and tacky, and may the lord have mercy on your soul

Nah, not really, looks like an awsome build, congrats and hope it's what you were expecting

(man I should really think about upgrading again... darn bills!)

Nice Build Bro...

I have an 8350 and it Rocks.. the 4100 rocks just as well for the 4 core.

you'll have no problems.

Gameing wise there is Little Difference between 4100/81xx and 8350 you'll love it.

And I only have a Single 7750 for my GPU but I can run Crysis 3 Fine (custom High settings)

So its all good i'll run 2x 7750's sometime and get 2x the speed anyway.

Take care.. can't wait to see your posts about your built System. etc.

Congratulations. I've always wanted to build myself a computer, but for some reason I don't know why I haven't yet. I don't game anymore, and my last computer I had from 2007-2010 which was a 17" Dell Laptop that held up 15 months of Iraq sand.

LOL. Man I almost didn't do it but my girlfriend who knows nothing about computers talked me into it since according to her I deserve it. Bills suck but they have to be paid, pick up a side hustle and make some more cash and make the new build!

Thanks man I appreciate the information. I may call Newegg tomorrow and see what I can do about sending back the 8150 and grabbing a 8350. It's only a couple bucks more.
