TheLegendOfMart Posted February 24, 2013 Share Posted February 24, 2013 According to someone in the know on Beyond3D forums the dev kits at PS Meeting only had around 1Gb of useable VRAM. Looks like the rumours were true that Sony dropped 8Gb in at the last minute, if this is true then it means games should look even better if they can use 2Gb or more VRAM thanks to the extra 4Gb of RAM. That 4GB at 50$ was sold at a price where the manufacturer AND the store could make a profit. Here sony will be buying directly from the manufacturer. This cut the profit from the store and like you say the manufacturer will be able to reduce the price because of the volume asked by sony. Will likely be half the price at most. I don't have the current figures (the latest industry research usually costs a lot of money to obtain), so it might be a bit off, but either way, it's at least going to be more than DDR3 pricing.
