13 y/o girl attacks boy over a ....

At that age my daughter wouldn't have stabbed the kid - she'd have just pounded him, then threatened to pop-rivet his "thing" to a locker door (her favorite threat to bullies.) Tough chick, and still is.

Exactly. Most kids get into fights?I know I did and I'm not a violent person?but rarely does it escalate to people being stabbed or needing to go to hospital.

Lol - seriously though, the girl is a moron.

No, "Parents" raised a moron, I can only imagine what kind of household this girl lives in that stabbing was her first reacion

When I was young about every kid over 7 carried a pocket knife, usually 1.5 to 3.0 inches. Still carry one, but now it's a Kershaw.

Yeah, that's not normal. :|

I do feel sorry for him.

Every kid over 7yo carried a pocket knife?

But you do have to agree that the environment shapes a person's opinion, no matter how absurd that opinion is.

Of course. If you grow up in an area where guns or knives are common place then of course you'll feel vulnerable without them, which is exactly why they should be heavily restricted. It's not normal to need a gun or a knife to feel safe.

Normal for what?

We were farm kids, meaning we used knives to cut / trim rope, packing twine, cardboaed etc. all the time. At school we sharpened pencils and used them in crafts & model making before X-ACTO blades were available. For fun and for crafts we whittled with them (woodcarving.) The list goes on. A pocket knife is still standard kid equipment in a lot of the US.

And guess what? We had a rifle range in the basement of our Jr. High & High Schools for use by the school rifle teams. Quite a few rural Michigan schools still have rifle teams, some associated with ROTC programs but not all. This school in PA is an example -
