It's looking like blue will ship, or try to ship in time for the back to school rush, so late August or early September unless they target the holidays and we get another November release which they seem to like to do as of late.

If this build tag is legit, it not only confirms the earlier rumor that windows blue has reached M1, it also confirms the name "Windows Blue".

About the soft forum member Khohol, he is the guy who first posted the 9319 screen-shot, which was later quoted by the Russian site MicrosoftPortal, and then quoted by other tech forums and bloggers. Also, MicrosoftPortal has also quoted this new M1 build tag.

I'm guessing M2 will be when they hit 94xx though there was that bit about blue RTM being 9600.

So Microsoft are aiming for an OS release less than a year after Windows 8? Unless it's free I doubt it, unless they were trying to **** off their customers.

With the now confirmed total failure of windows 8 I am sure windows 9 will be rushed out the door even quicker than 7 was rushed out to fix the vista disaster.

And who confirmed Win8 is a total failure? Or is this just your own bias against the OS?

Who said it wouldn't be free? Blue is being done mostly be the same team that's worked on Windows service packs and those have always come out around one year after RTM. This is still on that same cycle but it's also going to bring features and not just bug fixes.

Uh, you are mistaken.

"November 2014: Windows Release 9"

Blue is just like a service pack. It's not Windows 9.

Hence why I said unless it's free

Hey, I'm just quoting GP007's post.

Jeez, no wonder everyone hates these topics. Everyone gets all over-defensive

Your comment as a whole made it sound like you expect it to be a paid update.

Yeah, I'm surprised so many people missed that. The time table specifies Windows 9 would be released 2 years after Windows 8, not 1 year. Blue probably comes 1 year after Windows 8, and Windows 9 comes 2 years after Windows 8.

Geeze, why so defensive? :p

is Blue going to be Windows 9 or is it going to be a large content patch like XP SP2?

More like XP SP2. We won't get any Windows 9 news till next year probably.

Looks like it could be fun to dive into the beta scene again :)

The reason why I signed up for Neowin those long years ago anyways!

Soooooooooooo...........

Anyone know if it's going to have a classic desktop with the start orb or is it going to be a start screen like 8? :p

People think it's about Windows 9 because they have it a code name and also we already have a bump in the minor version number of the kernel which never happens with service packs, but at the same time this is << racial epithet >> than a SP.

The newest rumor is that we're getting UI tweaks, updated core apps, kernel level performance updates and more API updates that will bring winrt on 8 and Phone 8 closer together.

Well, even if it had a start menu, why does it need a start orb? Are two software start buttons and 1-2 hardware start buttons not enough for you? :p

Did you spell 'bigger' wrong? lol

When the MS Taiwan guy posted about windows codename 9 was started at 9622, some people already speculated on winblue is targeted to RTM at build 9600, it was quite obvious because 9600 is a multiple of 100 and 16.

What is the objective of Windows 9?

To kill off win8, like win7 killing off vista. laie_67.gif

Lots of misinformation in this thread... just saying.

Guess you are not going to clarify a bit in here or in windows team blog? (hope I am wrong though :woot: )
