If you take the good parts from it, it's as useful a moral guide as any. There's a lot of moralistic parts to the bible (just as there's a ton that isn't). More to the point, refusing to consider the origin and creation of the document is plain stupid. There are references to Pi being 3, Whales being fish etc. Things change as our understanding of the universe and things around us change. The book is the word of God (according to Christians) expressed through the people of the time. The people failed O.o A lot of people try and follow the teachings of the bible and discard the bigotry and ignorance around it. Reading the source material might help you on this one >.> Considering there are far more comprehensive and modern discussions/guides/ideas about ethics and morality, I cannot see the point looking to the Bible specifically for moral guidance.
