Coupon Rejected, Angry Walmart Shopper Pulls Out Gun

Recommended Posts

MARCH 4--Angered that a Walmart employee refused to honor a ?dollar-off? coupon, a Florida woman allegedly retrieved a handgun from her car and waved the weapon at several store employees, police allege.

The confrontation at the Crawfordville store began Friday afternoon when Mary Frances Alday, 61, sought to use an Internet coupon. Alday became ?extremely upset? when a Walmart assistant manager, Tracy Stockslager, told her of the retailer?s policy not to accept such online coupons, according to a Wakulla County Sheriff?s Office report.

After having her coupon bid rejected, Alday allegedly called Stockslager ?a bitch and other foul names? and intentionally struck the worker with a shopping cart. As Alday was escorted out of the store, she reportedly warned Stockslager, 48, not to follow her. The Walmart worker replied that ?she was going to get her vehicle license plate number.?

?If you follow me, I have something in my car for you,? Alday warned.

As several Walmart employees watched from the store?s entrance, Alday appeared outside her car ?waving the gun in the holster,? reported investigators. Alday then removed the weapon--a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 Special--from the holster and pointed it ?at all the store employees and stated ?I have something for Y?all.?? The Walmart workers ?retreated back inside the building due to being in fear for their lives.?

Alday, who fled the Walmart parking lot in a 2011 Ford Escape, was subsequently pulled over by a sheriff?s deputy who asked if there was a firearm in the SUV. ?Yes, I have a concealed weapons permit, and you are not taking my gun.? Asked about the gun?s location, Alday replied, ?You?re not taking my gun.?

Alday twice refused the deputy?s request to exit the auto, and was tasered when she ?reached over the console for something in the passenger seat.? Alday was then dragged from the car and handcuffed. The gun was found in the vehicle?s center console.

Seen in the above mug shot, Alday was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of battery. She was booked into the county jail, where she remains in custody in advance of an initial court appearance.

Sheriff?s reports do not indicate the Walmart item for which Alday was seeking to save a dollar.

Have you seen the kind of people who shop at Walmart? I am not surprised this happens, I would be less surprised if the money off voucher was for a gun or ammo from Walmart :D

Im starting to think that Florida just needs to fall into the ocean.

Along with about twenty other states; then you'd have the makings of a decent country.

So, not knowing US law:

1) Is this behaviour allowed with a concealed weapons license?

2) Would she keep the license after this?

She didn't fire her pistol, nor pointed the pistol to anyone (I guess?) so nothing will happen about her license.

Especially since she's mentally stable...Oh wait ;)

all this for $1 off, I love how cheap people can act in stores. I have seen people bring in coupons to our that were emailed to them, the coupon will say on the bottom valid only online. However people still put up a hissy fit when we don't accept them, I kindly point to the bottom of the coupon.

Yep, I agree.

California (massive debt)

New York (despot mayor. Seriously, you're not allowed to get a 2 litre bottle of coke with a family pizza? and other such nonesense laws)

MA

Illinois (Chicago just needs to go. Crime and corruption).

etc.

Concealed weapons permit. Concealed being the keyword there. You get arrested regardless of the permit if someone sees it and reports you. I know. I have one.

Thank you for correcting. Just curious, if you have concealed permit, under what circumstances you can show your gun?

Except multiple members of staff reportedly watching from the entrance/exit, unless she had to be directly aiming, but I'd say waving/pointing in the direction of a crowd should qualify; permit or not, combined with this other behavior.

Don't forget all the mob trample deaths that occur at Walmart during Black Friday.

1) No, "Brandishing" is the same punishment as pulling out the firearm and shooting where no one was harmed, often worse because its an attempt to "coerce or threaten" sometimes when dealing with only discharging it is accidental at least.

2)Nope, not a chance.

She didn't fire her pistol, nor pointed the pistol to anyone (I guess?) so nothing will happen about her license.

Wrong, but thanks for playing.
