He likely makes like $3 an hour and most of his money is earned on tips, plus he has to pay for gas in his own car. So the tip should have been much higher then that, even 3% on that bill would have been $44.

That's why tipping should be optional and the minimum wage should be a sensible amount. People shouldn't have to rely on optional tips for doing their job.

$20-30 is definitely enough, although it would be very nice if you could also tip the people who made the pizza separately.

I agree. The guy(s) who had to make 85 pizzas deserve more of a tip than the guy who just had to drive a car and drop them off.

In restaurants your tip is usually split between your waiter, the busboy, and the cooking staff. But with delivery the delivery guy usually keeps all the money.

surely $3 an hour isn't legal?

They get minimum wage in PA, $7.50 at least.

No delivery person should feel entitled to tips.

And be grateful for what tips they get.

It's simple, pay workers a REAL wage and make it so tips are not mandatory or frowned upon if you don't do it. Like a normal country.

Hollah.

also, a mandatory tip is not a tip. It's a fee.

I hate that tipping culture, it's a load of crap.
I might randomly buy the barmen a drink if they've been good and I've been there for a long time.

Dominos over here is rediculous, something like £15 for a pizza including delivery, driver probably gets very little of that and the rest is huge markup for dominos or whatever company, would rather get a pizza from a supermarket with my custom toppings for £4 and have that or just make my own - nicer, healthier, cheaper, I know exactly what's happened to it and if someone's ****ed in the mixture or spat on it (unlike if it comes off some delivery vehicle).

If someone can afford nearly $1500 in pizza then they can afford a $50 tip.

Where I live it costs extra to get the pizza/food delivered. Doesn't that money go to the delivery person?

I know around here they make it a point of saying "delivery fees do not go to the driver". I assume it goes to maintaining the vehicles and related insurance.

I have no problem tipping reasonably; they make less money than I do and are doing me a favour making and/or bringing me dinner so I don't have to cook it, or go out and get it. Laziness fee, I call it  I guess it helps that I have been very poor before (and I think my father actually was a pizza delivery guy at one point, come to think of it), so I don't mind being a bit generous with what I have now that I am doing better. If I can't afford a proper tip, I don't eat out or order in.

These guys like waters live off of their tips. They get minimum wage and this pizza guy deserved way more than $10.00.

And you live in a "Normal" country...? :s

Where i live this would not be an issue as you are told up front not to tip the driver.
