threetonesun
If you're considering getting a processor now and then upgrading in the future, I would get this: http://www.ebuyer.com/393560-intel-pentium-dual-core-g2120-3-10ghz-skt1155-3mb-cache-boxed-bx80637g2120 And a Z77 motherboard, then in the future if the computer needs more power you could drop in a i7 k-series and go nuts with it. xKratosx 1 Share
xKratosx
Wow, that motherboard looks awesome! :D Thanks again for the help three, although I think in this case I'd probably be better off spending that money on a cheaper ~?50 motherboard (no SLI or any sort of overclocking needed) and an i3/i5 (tempted by this motherboard right now, along with this CPU)
xKratosx
Also, is the 7850 definitely worth almost double the 7770? I know I probably sound like a stuck record now but I'm not sure if this will even be used that much for games, certainly not beyond Skyrim anyhow... The 7850 is pretty much the best value graphic card for price to performance ratio. See here: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html The 7770 won't be able to run Skyrim on the highest settings, but if the 7850 is going to break budget, then the 7770 will be perfectly fine and I doubt he will be disappointed. xKratosx 1 Share
xKratosx
Thank you Astra :) I think he's more worried about the mods etc than he is the graphics (like I said, he was really impressed by the Xbox version so I'm sure even the 7770 would blow him away!) I think I'll leave the graphics card until last and see what kind of money we've spent

Performance per dollar (probably the same with pounds) Edit: Damn ninja xKratosx 1 Share

Or you could confront him with the two choices and say that if he wants the higher end card, that perhaps he can chip in to make up the price difference. Just a thought. :) xKratosx 1 Share
xKratosx
Thanks Luc :D And that's a great idea! I'm doing it as a surprise though (he'd never let me pay for everything if he knew!) and to be honest I think he'd just say to go with whichever I think is best Currently thinking: Intel Core i5-3330 3.00GHz (Ivy Bridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - ?133.19 MSI B75MA-P45 Intel B75 Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard - ?41.40 ARIAnet Radeon HD 7770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (OEM) - ?83.99 120GB Samsung 840 Series 2.5" SATA 6GB/s (SATA-III) - ?71.99 Coolermaster Elite 330 Case With Coolermaster elite Power 500W PSU - ?51.99 4x2GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM (from my current machine) - ?43.99 Samsung SH-118AB 18x DVD ROM Drive - Black - ?11.33 Samsung 24" S24B300BL Monitor - ?103.

xKratosx
Thank you! Will go for the Agility 4! Hopefully going to order it asap... girlfriend thinks I need to ring him and tell him I'm ordering it and what I'm ordering, but idk, there's no surprise then, and I know he'd be very insistent that I don't pay for it myself!!
