Any way to stop baldness

Recommended Posts

Could be worse, I started going silver grey when I was 16. I'll be 39 this year and have a salt/pepper look if I keep my hair shaved to 1/4" but if I grow it out, full blown silver hair.

My Dad was bald and he embraced it quite well. Of course, he made jokes about it like "Bald guys are the first to know when it rains", "I'm not bald, it's my solar panel for my sex machine"...corny things like that.

I think a lot of people look good bald and 'wear' it well. I know I am looking down that road myself (unless that gene skipped me), and when I face that reality, then I know I will be stocking up on sunscreen for that. I think a sunburn on your bald head would be pretty bad.

I've had a receding hairline and growing bald spot since my early 20s and I started getting grey hair when I was 14, in my case it was a combination of genetics and stress, but I've learned to deal with it, and there are lots of women who find bald men sexy :p

So my suggestion, don't bother with a combover, it NEVER looks good...EVER! If you can afford hair transplants, go for it, but otherwise, just learn to deal with it, find a hairstyle that looks good on you and is easy to manage and you'll be fine.

I'm 22, and it started happening to me at 17. Except it's receding rather than balding at the top. Sucks. I used to have an amazing full head of hair that I wish I could go back to. I get so frustrated when I see some 70 year old with more hair than I have, lol. But oh well. Eventually I guess we'll have to shave it off. Sorry man.

Shave it off and embrace thw baldness

This. Tell your hair to **** off and go bald. I did and women like it :) Plus no more paying for haircuts and dealing with effed up hair in the morning.

SO TRUE!!! I knew a guy who had a very thick combover, and hid it well, but it always was 'lopsided' for some reason. Funny part though about it was on windy days, his combover was so heavy from hairspray to keep it there that the wind would pick it up and blow it to the other side revealing his bald head.

Ahh the joys of the golden shower....

A golden shower? :o

I hate to say it, and will be mocked, but massaging your own semen into your scalp actually promotes the hormones to help follicles activate.

Yes, it's sick, yes it seems weird, but yes it works.

Are you serious? I think my family might think it's a bit strange walking round with semen on my head.

Check with your doctor, it may also be stress induced or other illnesses.

but even if it is MPB, so what, let it go, shave it off. don't try to cover it up with medication that don't work or implants or

This.

I started to lose my hair around the crown of my head when I was about 20-21. I just shaved all my hair short with clippers and forgot about it. Over the years I've "lost" more hair so that now I have the classic hair at the sides and back but nothing on top. Having it shaved close means it's no issue. If i'd spent time and money to "slow" the progress it would just end up drawing more attention to it. People see someone trying to hide the fact they're losing their hair and THAT shows other people that the person in question has esteem issues. It isn't a cool look even if you end up with some more hair on your head.

Plus I also get the added benefit of not having to worry about styling my hair or it looking tragic in 20 years when someone finds an old photo. The "Picard" look is timeless ;)

Oh and in the last 8 or so years I've spent about $50 on haircuts (the price of 2 sets of hair clippers after the first one died).

Winning.

I agree. I started losing my hair around 17-18. I started to look "balding", so I shaved it all off. Nothing worse imo than that in between phase between having hair and losing it all. There are pills, topical solutions and surgery options, but none of them are advanced enough to actually make a balding man's hair look decent in most cases. Just shave it and hope for a cure down the road. At least if you shave your head, you can say it's shaved rather than bald. :)

If you don't want that, then just do a combover. Men only lose hair on the top of their head. They never lose hair on the sides. So, grow the sides long and do a combover. Not sure why more men don't do it.

I completely agree with this. Baldness isn't something to be ashamed of. If I started to notice that I was going bald I'd just shave it all and be proud!

I don't believe you... look at all that hair in your profile picture/avatar! :shifty:

Not sure if you forgot your /s tags, but the above images show why men don't use comb overs.

And of course, all you have to do is look at any Donald Trump photo to see why.

Just do what i did, I'm at the age of 28. When i was 22 i started going bald from the front, only little but after few months ppl who i work with, go out with etc started to say oo look it's baldy.. At first i say no you are joking. etc etc. After 1 year of saying i wasnt going bald, i finally looked in the mirror and said yes i'm going bald. So when i was 23 i had the short hair look, it suited me for a few years. Came 27 i then shaved my head and it made me look even better. Shave my head every 3 days. It's a pain some times but there you go.

The pictures look good. Makes me wonder why more men don't use combovers.

Yeah I actually do as well, and it is a huge pain at times, but I much prefer the look of being fully clean shaved then some growing in and showing how bald I actually am if I did not shave. I actually once tried to see how long I could go without doing anything. I made it 9 days before I felt I looked like a fool and had to shave it. So clean shaven bald is a commitment as well. I actually shave my head in the shower so have to allow an extra 10 minutes to do so the mornings I do know I am going to shave my head.
