Question

Posted

Am about to start a build which will be used for some trivial tasks; browsing, email, bit of word processing but also for video playback on TV (streamed from Microserver). Probably go with an Ivy i3 but don't know which chipset will be best for the video playback.

Any suggestions? Or are they all very similar.

Thanks

i just built an i3 HTPC. I went with Z77 and it works great (Z77 is also good if you want easy overclocking)

this is the mobo i got, though you could find cheaper ones easily http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130647

For a htpc, it really doesn't matter what chip you are getting. You are not overclocking (I'm guessing).

Z77 is the best as of yet, but do you need that much umpth? Look at the prices and compare.

Yes might as well go Z77 I can't really see the point in the H68, H61, H77, Q75 or Q77.

Thanks all, I thought Z77 was the best but wasn't sure if there were another chip which was designed more specifically for video. Z77 it is then, thanks again!
