The Plex theme in those builds was beautiful, so much nicer than the vile theme we currently see in Windows 8. If only someone would port it :D

My personal fav was Windows 2000. Did what it was supposed to do without bothering you, and yes, it wasn't as fancy looking, per se, BUT, it got the job done.

I'd have to agree. It's fast, looks great and does everything!

Still say Windows 2000 was awesome though. ;)

+1 for W2k workstation and server :)

I posted Longhorn as my fav back a couple pages. To me it was the nicest looking, cleanest and most innovative attempt.

I have the fondest memories of Windows 2000 but 7 was the most solid. Still using Windows 8 at the moment though :p

Skipped ME and dual booted 2000 and 98, loved Vista for a while actually, I never had any of the problems that most people faced with it.

I actually used XP for the longest which is why it seems the most 'meh'.

Please - Windows 2000 Professional was skinnable. In fact, most of the skins for XP would also work with Windows 2000 Professional.

What? I've never seen any evidence of this... unless you mean with windowblinds.

The watercolor theme from whistler was way better than the luna theming of the final XP release.

windows 8 pro working well on all my devices. familiar experience across the board, tablet, laptop, desktop and my girl's netbook. we routinely connect to the smart-tv and seeing the interface flow just blows minds at times. so yeah, windows 8 pro.

Probably Windows 2000. That was also the time when Windows still seemed head and shoulders above the competition. The switch from 3.11 to 95 was kind of exciting too.

Windows 2000. It was the last time Microsoft did a massive OS rewrite and it was a very delayed release (5 years or so in development), but it was fantastic. The reason we finally have stable PCs now is largely due to the work done for Windows 2000.

Windows 2000

I have very fond memories of it, rock stable (In a time when that was rare), light and just worked and the last time the classic theme looked good. People loved it, in fat there was a time when Windows XP, today's public favorite, was considered nothing more than Windows 2000 with themeing capabilities.

I spent hours customizing my system.

Right, XP added the theme service and the "Fisher Price interface" moniker was born.. was never a fan of Luna either, funny on a Win7 desktop though. I could swear there was a hacked UXTheme DLL floating around though that supposedly worked with 2K.. I never tried it myself, but pretty sure I read about it way back when during the "XP sucks going back to 2K Pro" phase. Probably meant WindowBlinds though.

Windows 3.1 was the first OS I used with DOS. As much as I loved it, now a days it wouldn't be my favorite since I had to use DOS to get Windows to actually run. But, I had many great times on that OS.

Windows 95 was the next OS for me. Back then it was the start menu that was new, and I was seriously like WTF.

Windows XP came on my first personal desktop. Still have the desktop and its still running XP. I could call it my favorite since it got me though middle school, high school and part of college.

Windows Vista, I only had that installed for 26 hours, and thats only because it took 20 hours to transfer my music.

Windows 7 I would have to say IS my favorite. It is the first OS I found leaked and I ran all the leaked copies.

I am still playing with Windows 8. I like it. I can't run it with anything "old" I have. But, I love it on my desktop.
