Newsblur, Feedly, The Old Reader servers went down after Google Reader News

Apparently there's a huge demand for news aggregation as Google would like you to believe otherwise. If you go ahead and check Newsblur, Feedly, The Old Reader, their sites are bombarded with traffics causing them to significantly slow down.

I just imported my Greader account to The Old Reader and already the site is taking forever to load all my feeds.

I'm not sure what is going on with Google. This seems like a crazy move to me. Glad you found an alternative.

So for desktop, what are some good rss readers you guys use then? Both web based and actual software would be a good thing to know :D (And yes, I know RSSBandit etc)

And for android, lord there's a million of them. Which do you guys use there? Just curious. I want to compare my usage I guess now that GR is dead.

I don't know why they are retiring Google Reader either. Lot's of people used it. But we still have lot's of alternatives to choose from once Google Reader goes away. I personally like Feedly. It's very good and it has apps for basically every platform, except for Windows Phone and Windows 8.

I'm sad Reader is going too but I guess it makes sense. They have a lot of popular services but some have no means of supporting themselves financially.

i am in the processes of moving all of my google reader content over to feedly and getting it setup the way i want it.

Feedly is a good alternative? I'll wait for a bit to see how users are transitioning. Any new users willing to do a quick review on Feedly comparing to Reader?

Too bad though I use Reeder app on iOS and Feedly isn't supported (yet hopefully).

I've been playing with Feedly today and I really like it. At least Google accomplished one thing with all of this.
