Axel
Hi, I've just installed one of these mini adapter cards into a Dell Studio 1749 laptop. The wireless works fine, brilliantly in fact. Except every 10 - 15 seconds Windows 7 decides that it has found new hardware. The message that keeps popping up is "USB Device Not Recognised" - This is definitely related to the card as it doesn't occur when I remove it. I'm very confused! Any help much appreciated as usual. Cheers, Alex
Axel
I'd like to add that if I disable one of the "generic usb hub" items in device manager (there are two) the problem stops. But after this neither of the usb ports work!
Axel
I've solved it. For those who are interested in the solution see the following diagrams. Ignore whats highlighted on the table. Solution? SELLOTAPE OVER PINS 34, 36, 38, 40! I don't even know why they're there?
Detection
wow nice hack/fix, I think I would have given up before that I tried to replace the wireless G card in my laptop with a wireless N one, except for reasons only HP think are fine, they have added a whitelist to the laptop BIOS that prevents you booting with any other card installed The new N card works 100% if I hot swap it during POST, so there is no reason for them to block it except to be awkward, and my version laptop BIOS seems impossible to remove the whitelist from
