What exactly did people not like about Quantum of Solace? I thought it was a pretty good Bond movie.

I don't know, I thought it was good. I really liked the open ended gameplay and lots of side quests to complete in addition to the main storyline.

Skyfall not Skyrim :p

I didn't mind Quantum of Solace, but it wasn't great. For me, it felt more like a filler between Casino Royale and Skyfall. Didn't reallly seem to go anywhere, and was just generally forgettable IMO.

He was no bond, Bond is supposed to be Clever, fighter, sneaky and a playboy. meanwhile Brosnan, was 90% playboy and 10% Action hero, so 10% something Bond is not, and 90% of something he should be 20-30%.

I really liked Dalton, I suspect most people don't because that's when they dropped the to obvious gentleman thing quite a bit. and he was more rough and hard. and the stories tended to be a bit more dark and sinister than the old cold war stuff.

I liked Dalton, but I thought Brosnan pulled off his Bond pretty well. Dalton would have been better in Goldeneye, but Brosnan pulled it off well too. Brosnan's problem was that he got stiffed by the quality of the films. Goldeneye was pretty decent, Tomorrow Never Dies was okay, World Is Not Enough was pretty bad (slightly saved by the mighty fine Denise Richards), and Die Another Day was pure unadulterated garbage (I mean, everything about that movie sucked balls from theme song through to invisible Aston Martin).

While I found Skyfall to be a great film overall, it had four major annoyances [OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS]:

  1. It's covered in the OP, but the whole "get captured on purpose" thing was a bit far fetched. It's also been done to death in the past few years.
  2. Again, covered in the OP, but ARGH product placement. They didn't even try to hide the Audi and VW references. I was half expecting Bond to say while sat in the digger: "Wow, this is an easy to use digger, if I was excavating something, I'd definitely use a CAT 3200 <turn to camera and wink>". Thankfully it didn't really happen again after the first 10 minutes.
  3. Screw that "decryption" scene. According to my girlfriend I got visibly irritated watching it.
  4. Continuity. My impression of the end was that the end of Skyfall was set before Dr. No (given that we're introduced to Ms Moneypenny and the male M stepped in to replace Judi Dench at the end of Skyfall), but this means that Judi Dench was present before Dr. No, but also AFTER License To Kill. What?! I know that this is looking to deeply into it, but it still grinds my gears.
