DirectX 11.1 on Fermi GPUs.

Question

Hello Neowinians. I have another question for you good people. I currently own a GTX 570 Fermi gpu based on DirectX 11.0.

I wonder if using Windows 8 , will my gpu be able to acces (almost) all the DirectX 11.1 features ? TXAA,FXAA and WDDM 1.2 are currently supported by 5XX series ?

I don't have much knowledge regarding the mentioned features yet I wonder if my gpu will support all those new features at driver level atleast.

WDDM 1.2 looks good in Windows 8 , anyone could clear some things up for me ?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english !

(currently using Windows 7 with latest nVidia driver 314.07.)

Sadly, no. Even Kepler (6XX desktop models) do not support DX11.1 *fully*.

While Windows 8 will always report that it is running 11.1 (being backwards compatible), check with GPU-Z to see what version the GPU itself supports. In your case of Fermi-done-right (5XX) it'd be DX11.

TXAA - another sad no. While it's just an exceedingly clever MSAA technique and, with certain effort, could work on any modern GPU, it is a key selling point of Kepler, so that's what it requires.

WDDM 1.2 is just a driver model of Windows 8, which, among other fun things, includes provisions for DX11.1 and stuff. I seem to recall the minimum requirement of WDDM in general is any DX9/Shader Model 2.0 capable GPU.

Thank you very much for your answers ! While Kepler is more efficient than Fermi , its not groundbreaking over new features.
