neufuse Veteran Posted March 17, 2013 Veteran Share Posted March 17, 2013 This at random when going to neowin.net popped up.... why do I seem to be the only one that gets full page ads? is it just my location? I get them for Symantec more then anything.... now bing and I don't even use bing or ever type it or search for it.... this happens to me anywhere I am at in this town... so it's not just my home system, I get the same ads at work... all "ad choices" ads too
Max Norris
Usually work in Firefox 22 myself, but just for giggles fired up IE10 with no addons, went to the forum, and first thing I see...
djdanster
I didn't think Neowin used Google Ads (assuming ad choices = google ads)? I thought they used their own provider.
Livin in a box
I didn't think Neowin used Google Ads (assuming ad choices = google ads)? I thought they used their own provider. Google Ads are AdSense, AdChoices are a different provider.I've seen AdChoices ones for a while now, but never had one open full screen on me. Maybe I'm just lucky? COKid
Install a TPL for IE and be done with it. The Fanboy ones are pretty good. http://www.iegallery...protectionlists Usually work in Firefox 22 myself, but just for giggles fired up IE10 with no addons, went to the forum, and first thing I see... Do you still see that after logging in? For me, I usually don't log out, so when I return to Neowin, I never get those ads.
Azies
The ads are getting a bit more ridiculous each month, it's making it harder and harder for me to not block them out with Ad block or whatever. Hum 1 Share

Max Norris
Install a TPL for IE and be done with it. The Fanboy ones are pretty good. Don't usually use IE (Firefox 22 here primarily with the usual addons), I'll occasionally use IE in a sandbox to test a completely "naked" browser setup, but I agree with your advice for the IE users. In this case, just fired it up to see these nuisance popups out of curiosity.
ShareShiz
I thought if you registered, the ads went away ??
Guth
Hasn't it already been said that ads are ads. The only ads the admins will complain about and remove are that which are malicious. I'm pretty sure neobond said that in the last ad thread.

I'm only posting this because when I started getting these ads a year ago, neobond said it wasn't right for there to be full page ads Guth and Brandon H 2 Share

sagum
Usually work in Firefox 22 myself, but just for giggles fired up IE10 with no addons, went to the forum, and first thing I see... A Few months back I got this style of advert on another tech news site I frequented. After the 3rd time I saw it I've not been back to that particular site. I've also noticed a few sites that have mouse over expanding adverts as well, they really annoy me. It feels like we're going back to the late 90s where adverts were used to trick people with popups and such.

Personally, I like the Easylist more. Anything that says "fanboy" turns me off completely!! ;) Use a good host file also. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm Haven't seen ANY type of ad ANYWHERE in eons!! :)
