Verizon Galaxy Nexus finally updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

Recommended Posts

The Galaxy Nexus for Verizon is a bit of a black sheep in the Nexus family ? the handset was one of the precious few to run a stock version of Android and ran on Verizon's excellent LTE network, but the phone has lagged significantly behind in terms of software updates. Fortunately for owners, the phone is now up-to-date: Verizon has announced it'll start rolling out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, software Google itself announced in October and began pushing out to Nexus phones in November. While four months is actually not a bad wait considering how few phones run the most recent version of Android, it's still disappointing for a phone that game with Google's Nexus branding and the promise of timely updates. Nonetheless, it's excellent news for owners, who will now have access to Android's new gesture keyboard, Photosphere function, and other minor tweaks and enhancements. Verizon says the software will roll out in waves starting today.
